“Know yourself” was written on the ancient temple of Apollo in Delphi. It would seem, for what? We are often hindered by our self-image. Which of course differs from knowledge. Knowledge is verified and confirmed by facts, while ideas are based on emotional assessments and, at best, are supported by one incident. This is why it is so important to learn how to change these perceptions. How? Let's look at an example. Let's say a young man, let's call him Ivan, gets embarrassed at parties when he wants to make acquaintance with the woman he likes. He expects women to refuse to meet him and certainly not to continue. This is Ivan’s idea of himself for himself and for those around him. How will our hero act? Carefully examining the faces of pretty women, he will look for signs of possible refusal. He is driven by the confidence that he knows what they are thinking about - which means there is no need to ask! And what follows? Ivan will consciously or unconsciously give signals around him: “refuse me, I will accept refusal.” It turns out to be a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. He didn’t predict failure for himself, he went and failed. What to do with this phenomenon? Try to act differently. Imagine yourself as a person who has fun at a party, who is liked by women and enjoys dating. To remove unnecessary anxiety about dating, you can tell yourself: “I’m not going to get acquainted, I’m going to practice dating. The main thing here is not the result, but the process itself, learning to get to know each other well. Today I’m just learning how to meet people.” In addition, you need to work on your face, practice in front of the mirror how and what you will say during the meeting. Focus on your facial expression, consider what it expresses. People like smiling, happy faces; practice your smile. And when starting a conversation, don’t forget to smile. To become different, you need to make an effort. To remain the same, you can do nothing but suffer. The choice is yours…
