From the author: Fairy Tale A fat white goose was preparing for her own wedding. All sorts of food was prepared ahead of time: peas, selected grains and even a few fatty nuts for the young. The groom, a young gray goose, was rather reserved about the upcoming event, but the goose, already always important, became even more important. On the eve of the wedding, holding the groom under the wing, she walked around the poultry yard, carrying invitations to its inhabitants in her beak. The honor was granted not everyone. First of all, a couple of turkeys were invited - they were the largest figures in the entire poultry house. Then all the geese were invited. The goose did not like the old rooster, but she invited him too, since he was touchy and angry and could peck if something was wrong with him. The honor was also given to two laying hens, as the old residents of the yard. Although they were narrow-minded creatures, they knew everything about everyone and could be useful. But the goose avoided the ducks, considering them too noisy and noisy. Well, every little thing like chickens, goslings and visiting sparrows was not taken into account at all. All the guests were invited, the treat was prepared; the barn where the celebration was to take place was cleaned to a shine. One thing depressing the goose was the weather. It rained for several weeks in a row, it was slushy, damp and disgusting. - Ah! - the goose complained. - So the guests will cause me a barn full of dirt. How could they stain my snow-white outfit! By the way, for this reason the fat pig who lived next door was not invited. Although the goose often snatched a delicacy from her trough - pieces of boiled pumpkin, she still did not consider it necessary to groom the fat woman for her unkempt appearance and clumsiness. There was very little time left before the wedding. Within a week, light snow fell from the sky. A hard frost hit and lingered for a long winter. But the goose’s wedding never took place. After all, on the eve of the day the wedding was scheduled, the New Year came. And who doesn’t know that there is no more important food on this holiday than a well-fed, well-roasted goose?.
