There are many holidays on the calendar, during which it is customary to congratulate people, give flowers and gifts. However, there is a special day when congratulations are somehow inappropriate - this is World Sick Day. The international calendar indicates February 11th. This is the day that reminds us all: medical workers and people far from medicine, about universal human values, such as kindness, compassion and mercy towards the patient. On this day it is customary to talk about what it is like to live, constantly experiencing pain and discomfort , suffering and how to prevent the most common ailments in modern society that affect the physical health of the body and psychological state. There is no need to move away from the person. The standard phrases “hold on”, “everything will be fine” have no basis in reality. How are you holding up? For what? What does good mean and when will it happen? There is no need to downplay the depth of human suffering. After all, everyone’s pain threshold is different, and we cannot know how painful, scary, or bad a person really is. It’s better at this moment to simply ask: “How can I help you now?” Sometimes simple words and the simplest actions are enough - give a gift, drink tea together, help prepare dinner, discuss the latest good news. There is no need to offer recipes you overheard from someone or read on the Internet. It’s unlikely that they need advice from amateurs who know everything, because their second cousin’s husband suffered from the same thing. You just need human communication. Books about people who have suffered serious illnesses and coped with their illnesses will also be good support and motivation. A serious illness of a family member always entails a redistribution of roles, additional responsibilities and emotional stress. Therefore, if you understand that the illness of a loved one is having a serious impact on your psychological state, it is better to consult a specialist. Today, there are very few psychologists in medical institutions, which is a big disadvantage for communication between the doctor, the patient and loved ones. PS The important thing is that at the moment your loved ones are nearby, which means you can enjoy communication. Whatever it was - here and now everyone is alive!
