Inner critic (IC) is a mental structure, subpersonality, internal figure. How does it manifest itself? In self-criticism, self-devaluation, self-blame, self-examination. Finding flaws in yourself. Excessive demands on yourself. Procrastination. “Why start if it won’t work anyway”, “I came up with some nonsense.” Also “I don’t know what I want.” Desires inside are so blocked that they are not even realized. Although within ourselves we know perfectly well what we want, we are afraid to admit it to ourselves. And of course, there is a strong fear of error, perfectionism “I’m afraid to make a mistake,” and they exaggerate the punishment for a mistake. A person does not see his talents, does not see his strengths. Sees only the bad, the shortcomings. Where does VK come from? Often criticized in childhood. The child faced rejection and rejection for the slightest mistakes and for expressing himself. And it happens that there wasn’t much criticism in childhood, but, for example, there was some kind of competition with a sister/brother, where one child is good and the other is bad. Working with VK (in writing)1. Find it and understand how it manifests itself in you. What thoughts do you criticize yourself most often? What thoughts do you criticize yourself with every day? What are these thoughts?2. What kind of criticism are you afraid of from other people? How and why do you criticize other people? Whose voice is this? Accept and understand that this is just a small part of you.3. Learning to stop a critical thought. “I was mistaken, I was a fool in this situation” so STOP this is VK. He won't stop, but it's important to keep saying stop, that's just a part of me.4. We need a counterbalance to the VC, for example, an internal lawyer/friend. We can turn it on and ask “What thoughts can I support myself with, what can I praise myself for, what can I thank myself for?”, “How can I think good about myself? How does it feel to be good enough? How can it even be enough?” The desire for perfection always tells us that we don’t have enough of something. That I’m not like that, I’m not like that. And the state of sufficiency reduces VC. “How to be sufficient in this situation/in this matter?” Advantages of VC: if VC is balanced with an internal lawyer/friend, then self-criticism makes us move forward. It's about self-development, about working on mistakes, about the ability to accept constructive criticism and use it to your advantage.
