Coaching, perhaps many people have heard this word, but if you ask someone what it means, not everyone will be able to give at least some definition. Let's try to delve a little deeper into this concept. Coaching was initially used to train athletes and took the form of directive guidance, leading the athlete to the ultimate goal - victory, through a system of planned training and identifying prospects. This technique gave very encouraging results. And someone decided that it would be reasonable to apply the same approach to business, personal growth, career formation, and creative achievements. The modern definition of coaching tells us that it is a system that allows you to unlock a person’s potential. Help him realize himself. Identify hidden non-adaptive mechanisms of functioning and form a system of behavior that will allow you to function as effectively as possible in reality. Initially, coaching was built on a cognitive-behavioral basis and, perhaps, to this day in developed countries this is the main approach to coaching. Why is this so? When we engage in coaching, we must create a structure, a plan, a clear, rational approach to our capabilities and to the surrounding objective reality. This is the ability to use, analyze, synthesize data, operate with facts most effectively, and form a harmonious, orderly system. The cognitive behavioral approach meets all these requirements. This is not an easy method, but it is the most popular method and the most effective. This has been confirmed by many studies. Now let's touch on, as an example, several techniques of the cognitive-behavioral approach used in business. Let's take at least the basics of time management, which are the basis of CBT. Priorities. Planning. Timing. When we talk about priorities, cognitive-behavioral methods come to our aid: identifying alternatives, assessing benefits and costs, which allow us to objectively assess the presence of all possible alternatives, as well as assess how positive or negative they are.
