Sometimes it seems that a person with healthy self-esteem is a myth and an invention of psychologists. This article is about that same person who is doing well with self-esteem. A person with normal self-esteem usually has emotional stability. He is able to cope with life's difficulties without plunging into the extremes of overestimating his capabilities. Anyone can become such a person, regardless of age or gender. An important feature of healthy self-esteem is openness to mistakes. A person is aware of his shortcomings, is ready to work on them and learn from his own experience. The very process of interacting with errors does not create big emotional swings in him about himself and his capabilities. Also, a person with normal self-esteem actively manages his life. He strives to achieve goals, recognizing his strengths and skills. He does not live in illusions about his abilities and does not try to amaze anyone with his skills and successes. With all this, he understands that not everything is possible and that there are things that he cannot achieve or control. Again, this fact does not upset him and does not make him angry at fate and life. The positive effect of having healthy self-esteem is that it contributes to the formation of quality relationships. A person who respects himself is more likely to respect others, set boundaries, and develop mutual understanding. It is worth noting that respect for others begins with oneself. Therefore, you don’t have to bring yourself to the “boiling point” because of what others might think of us. Normal self-esteem includes flexibility in decision making. A person is able to adapt to new circumstances without succumbing to extremes - neither an inflated ego nor excessive self-criticism. Such flexibility speaks about the relationship with the rules and norms of society. Know that they exist, but you don’t have to follow them. For example, saying “no” to a person in your own interests and not feeling remorse is normal. Have you noticed or not that a person with healthy self-esteem creates a positive impact on others. He can be a support for others without trying to suppress them with his superiority or, conversely, underestimation. This is a very important point, because asserting oneself at the expense of others is very attractive and at some point one may not notice how a person is stroking his pride just for the sake of others, but this is an indicator of unstable self-esteem with elements of dependence. Normal or healthy self-esteem - This is the key to emotional harmony and comfortable relationships in the family or at work. Simply put, if a person admits to himself that he does not swing on emotional swings due to any, even minor events, then he has healthy self-esteem based on himself. Let me remind you that when working with a psychologist, this can be achieved regardless of age, gender and social situation. Author Aliev Andrey - Psychologist online
