We continue to talk about stress and anxiety, study the factors that cause stress. Today we’ll talk about one of them, which is gaining momentum and the statistical percentage of which is growing every year - this is work. There are various sources with surveys of respondents on issues of stress at work, I found the following and would like to share them. The accuracy can be discussed, but the scale and trends will not vary greatly. 56% of respondents consider their work stressful, and 43% have experienced stress on an ongoing basis related to their current job in the last six months. If you imagine how much time a person spends at work, and if this time is associated with anxiety and worries, then it will not be difficult to assess the harm and damage caused to the body. Unfortunately, it will be colossal. There are many reasons why work is perceived this way: a basic lack of interest in the work, a lack of understanding of the connection between one’s contribution and the result, low motivation and lack of prospects. Of course, difficult relationships with colleagues and management also occur, and not the least. In addition, surveys also say the following: 47% of Russians believe that they work too much. I understand perfectly well that this is not about laziness, or high expectations, but about the fact that processing has long become a practice. Moreover, many unscrupulous employers do not pay for overtime properly, although overtime that leads to depletion is difficult to compensate for in cash equivalents. Everything needs balance. But in addition, many themselves take on overwhelming amounts of work and diverse tasks in order to “hold on” to their jobs due to fear of layoffs. And this is evidenced by the numbers below: 41% work irregular hours, 37% often work overtime, and 18% have night shifts. And speaking of overtime and irregular hours, we come to the next stress factor and its consequences - burnout. According to data for 2020, 39% of respondents experienced burnout; at the moment, this figure, at best, has remained at the same level, otherwise it has grown even more. First, honestly admit it to yourself. Don’t deceive yourself and don’t cover up the truth with arguments like “everyone is having a hard time now,” “there’s no such thing as an easy job.” This is wrong. Not everyone. And it happens! Secondly, start searching for your field, or modifying your current responsibilities, start exploring yourself, answering the question “what interests me,” “what am I the best at,” “what motivates and inspires me,” and many other questions .
