From the author: This is a chapter from a long article by my wife (of blessed memory), which she wrote based on the materials of her journalistic research and communication with the famous Moscow scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences Vasily Antonovich Filin - director of the center " Videoecology". The writer F.I. Dostoevsky hoped that beauty would save the world. And video ecologists urge us to surround ourselves with beauty, to make it the norm of life, a necessity, a condition and an indicator of real quality of life. It is possible to restore the existing visual environment to a psychologically comfortable level today (the natural environment should serve as a standard for this, according to scientists!). For these purposes, video ecologists have developed valuable recommendations. They are reminiscent of the ancient Chinese science of Feng Shui, as they are aimed at harmonizing the environment and its improvement. This is often why video ecology itself is even called Russian feng shui. Rock Garden The first rule that will help improve a person’s visual space is to prevent the formation of aggressive and homogeneous visual fields around oneself, which are environmentally unfavorable for vision and health. You need to get rid of them by all available means. In cities, color schemes and landscaping, the creation of enclosed spaces, and graffiti on the walls of buildings will help achieve this. In this case, you can focus on the proposals of scientists K. Eringis and A. Budronis, who determined that the number of similar objects in the landscape should not exceed 13 (while in an aggressive field there are more than 100 identical elements!), and in the city there should not be them at all more than 5-9. In apartments, paintings on the walls, carpets on the floors, plants on the windows, macrame, ceramics, ikebana, lamps will help break up the monotony and monotony of the decor. Make the ceiling rounded at the edges and look like the sky, abandon suspended ceilings and slabs, which can cause real neurosis. It is better to cover rectangular ribbed radiators with curtains and remove blinds - they are aggressive. Instead of doors, it is better to install arches. Make paneled doors with curved lintels. Colors should be muted, avoid combinations such as white and brown, white and black, white and red. Pets, birds and fish will save people from the feeling of a static house in everyday life. Just a house The second rule is to prevent the appearance of large and rectilinear planes in architecture and interiors. Natural nature consists of objects at different distances, and we must follow this principle when creating a visual environment. In ancient architecture, this was facilitated by such decorative elements as columns, bay windows, etc. The third rule is to remember that the “eye does not like” straight lines and right angles. Cells and stripes are the strongest visual irritant. And during construction and interior design they should be avoided. It is better to take care of decorative details - turn to carved items, ornamental and openwork metal inserts, and other decorations, since the more curved lines in the surrounding space, the closer it is to the natural environment and, therefore, more comfortable for the eyes. The fourth rule is aimed at architects : the more original the silhouette of a building, the better it is perceived. Now there is even a new direction - architectural bionics, which uses the forms and motifs of nature. The silhouette of the city must be shaped in the same way as the silhouette of the building: previously it was created by such “accents” as bell towers and church towers protruding above the entire panorama. The fifth rule is to limit the growth of the number of storeys in buildings. Their height should not exceed the height of trees, so that people live “within” the natural environment and in harmony with it. It is not for nothing that many countries have begun to switch to horizontal construction. Sixth, it is necessary to create closed spaces in cities, rich in visual elements, in order to compensate for the fragmentation of neighborhoods and houses, to create a feeling of security and unity. Seventh, limiting the further growth of cities. Big city.
