It’s hard to find a person who hasn’t used the services of a taxi at least once in his life. And the first person clients turn to is the dispatcher. It is difficult to underestimate the importance of this position for the qualified work of the entire transport service aimed at serving passengers. At first glance, the work of a taxi dispatcher seems quite simple: pick up the phone, accept the order and give it to the driver. As they say, the work is not dusty: you sit under a roof, always warm, and are often your own boss, because... You communicate with colleagues via walkie-talkie or telephone, convenient work schedule 2/2 or 1/3, there is always the opportunity to change shifts, which is important when a woman has a small child, no special knowledge or education is required. Not work, but a fairy tale. But only someone who has not encountered the work of a taxi dispatcher in practice can think this way. In reality, not every candidate is suitable for the job of a dispatcher. And the point is not only that you need to be very well versed in the area in which you will be working. Although without this knowledge there is absolutely no way. Still, to a greater extent, for the work to go well, such personal qualities as flexibility of thinking, the ability to quickly switch your attention from one object to another, retain a large number of details in memory and distribute your attention between them are necessary. If the dispatcher arranges regular “runs” or “downtime,” then the company will suffer financial damage, and the drivers will declare a boycott and simply stop communicating, working “from the curb,” i.e. serving passengers along the way. The situation is more likely to end with the dismissal of one dispatcher than of ten drivers. It is clear that certain communication skills, which imply successful interaction with clients and colleagues, are also necessary for the dispatcher. If it is customary for a company to transfer orders that for some reason cannot be completed themselves, he also needs to be able to communicate with colleagues from competing companies. A good dispatcher is also distinguished by high stress resistance and readiness to act in emergency situations. Various incidents happen not only on the road, but also when the driver communicates with a passenger, who may forget the address to which he was going to go, turn out to be insolvent upon arrival at the place, simply fall asleep deeply while driving to the specified point, etc. The dispatcher must be prepared to deal with any emergency situation. The role and place of the dispatcher in the transport service largely depends on the attitude of the owner, general management, and the strategic development goals of the company to this position. In different organizations, a dispatcher may have one of four levels of responsibility: the first - includes traditional responsibilities for accounting for cars on the line, drivers leaving, accepting orders and managing road transport; the second - implies, in addition to traditional transportation, involving other companies in servicing, managing complex road flows with the use of order centers by telephone operators; the third - covers the entire chain of passenger service and additionally takes into account the consumption of fuel and lubricants for each driver during the shift, depending on the kilometers traveled; the fourth - integrates all of the above areas of responsibility and at the same time assumes the entire organization of the service, including the distribution and accounting of workers time and contribution to the overall profit of the drivers of their shift. Despite the complexity of this job position, the training of specialists in the field of transport services for passengers, more often, takes place situationally: either in the company itself by experienced colleagues, or in the form of trainings in training centers. The main emphasis is on psychological and functional training. The first includes communicative training of dispatchers, the second - knowledge of the area and the ability to master technical means of communication and tracking. We have to admit that practically no problems arise in functional training. Psychological preparation is aimed at.
