From the author: This article was published in the collection of the conference "Current problems of modern neurology and psychiatry", St. Petersburg, 2015, p. 367 Experience of using autosuggestion in the correction of insomnia disorders in young people Introduction. Insomnia is the most common and clinically significant form of sleep disorder. At the same time, in recent years, the prevalence of sleep disorders among university students has been steadily increasing, and therefore there is a need to use methods for correcting insomnia (Denisov, N.L., 2009; Lyshova O.V., 2010). To correct insomnia disorders, a number of researchers suggest apply hypnosuggestive psychotherapy techniques (Ng BY, Lee TS, 2008). However, most hypnosuggestive methods require the active participation of the hypnotherapist, which is often difficult for students. At the same time, data on the use of autosuggestive techniques in the correction of insomnia disorders in university students is scarce and is unsystematized, and often empirical in nature (Becker PM, 2015). Purpose of the study: to study the effectiveness of the autosuggestion method in the correction of insomnia disorders in young people. Material and methods. To carry out the study, 84 young people (18.1±0.7 years) with complaints of sleep disorders were selected. The main sample was randomly divided into 3 equal groups: experimental group 1 (“sleep hygiene”) and experimental group 2 (“autosuggestion”) and a control group. In the first group (“sleep hygiene”), students were given a rational explanation about the causes of sleep disturbances, and the subjects also received a memo with recommendations for sleep hygiene. In the second group (“autosuggestion”), the subjects were trained in autosuggestion techniques using the adapted method of D. Elman. The control group did not receive any recommendations to improve the quality of night sleep. To objectify the results of the study, a questionnaire for scoring subjective sleep characteristics was used (modification of the Spiegel questionnaire). Results and discussion. The study showed that all subjects complained of sleep disturbances. Thus, in the “sleep hygiene” group, severe sleep disturbances predominated (57.1%), and in the “autosuggestion” group - with borderline insomnia pathology (71.4%), but no significant differences were observed (p>0.05). In the control group, the level of severe and borderline sleep disorders was equal. As a result, when using the autosuggestion method, all study participants noted improved sleep, while when following recommendations on sleep hygiene, only 71.4% of the participant reported satisfaction with its quality (p<0.01). This is largely due to the fact that autosuggestion techniques do not require large cognitive costs, in contrast to rational adherence to the rules of sleep hygiene, which require daily careful implementation. At the last stage of the sleep study, a final assessment of the effectiveness of the measures taken was made. In this case, participants with insomnia disorders were observed 2 weeks after their onset. Thus, in the “autosuggestion” group, 35.7% and 64.3% of subjects described the quality of their sleep as “excellent” and “good”, while in the subjects from the “hygiene” group 21.4% and 50.0%, respectively . Moreover, in the last group, 28.6% rated their sleep as “average”, which was not observed in the “autosuggestion” group. In turn, in the control group there were only minor quantitative changes: the number of those who rated their sleep as “good” increased to 28.6%, and “bad” - to 21.4%. Conclusion. Thus, the use of the autosuggestion method in the correction of insomnia disorders in young people made it possible to achieve positive changes in the sleep-wake cycle. At the same time, autosuggestion techniques are a psychocorrectional tool that has such properties as accessibility, cost-effectiveness and safety, and therefore is highly effective even with short-term use..
