A person looking for a way to quit smoking resembles a traveler in a sandstorm who tries to stay on his feet, but every time he thinks that he has taken a step forward, the sand carries him back, leaving only a feeling of futile efforts and disappointment. She turned to me for scenario therapy for co-dependent relationships; she started smoking in this marriage with an addicted gambling husband, this is how she coped with stress. She had a friend who was the same age at work with whom they often met in the working smoking room. After a cold, her friend was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer with metastases to the lungs, over the next four months she burned out from oncology. My client was very impressed by this case and almost immediately quit smoking and decided to leave her addicted husband. Conclusion: As you can see, both positive and negative motivation to smoke worked, in both cases it was external. However, without the therapy that these two people underwent, it is unlikely that they would have been able to keep themselves from relapse.
