From the author: The article was written by me for the student portal VUZON My recommendations will be contradictory, because they depend on what type of personality you are. If you are an adventurer and prefer to rely on chance rather than on your knowledge, then most likely you do not experience fear, but excitement and excitement before the exam. Passed, failed, still didn’t study and missed classes... But it’s advisable to at least attend classes during the semester, then some information will be retained in your memory, even if you slept through all the seminars in the last class. Most likely, you have self-confidence, and if you add it up with what you “learned” in your dream during class, then you will answer at least “3”. And if you’re lucky, then a “4” or “5”. If you are an exemplary student who prepares for every lesson, is never late, reads additional literature and may even know more than the teacher on some issues, but you lack self-confidence , then it would be good to strive to improve self-esteem. For example, before an exam, you can remember your achievements, write on a piece of paper at least 10 for the last year, re-read and add 1 to this list every day. These may not be global achievements, but an “5” at a seminar or verbal praise from a teacher, or if you classmates ask to copy or help with their studies. I am sure that you have such achievements. During the session every day before going to bed, tell yourself: “I can pass!” It is also important for you to give yourself the right to make mistakes, you can even use self-hypnosis: “I can win, but I can also make mistakes sometimes!” I also suggest thinking about how you react to fear. Imagine that a mad wolf is running towards you. Will you fall and play dead or run to climb a tree? If your reaction to stress is mobilization of strength and flight (or attack in response), then before the exam it is better to prepare yourself for a war that cannot be lost. You can turn your fear into anger: “How come I won’t give in?!” You can’t wait!” Then emotions will help you remember the necessary information during the exam (even if it is still fear, it is better not to fight it, because it mobilizes your strength, including brain activity and memory). You can assimilate information in the “emergency” mode, i.e. even if you studied averagely or poorly during the semester, then, most likely, you are able to at least somehow learn it 1-7 days before the exam. If your reaction to fear is “play dead,” it means that you are afraid of all the processes in your body slow down, including information that needs to be remembered at the right time that may jump out of your head. Then it is advisable for you to leave the evening before the exam free from preparation in order to rest, relax, do what you love, and get some sleep. You may think about what terrible things will happen if you don’t pass: you won’t die, but will remain alive, no one will cripple you, at most it will be a couple of negative phrases from the teacher and parents, it’s unpleasant, but you can survive. If you suddenly make a mistake, it does not follow that you will fail. Most likely, you at least know something, so you will definitely have a “3”. And if you studied during the semester and didn’t miss classes, then your chances of passing are even better. During the exam, catch a moment of inner peace; perhaps then it won’t matter to you how you pass, this will help you confidently answer all the teacher’s questions. The main thing before the exam is to remember why you are studying. If you have chosen your profession and are interested in the subjects, then you have a great guarantee of success at the session. If you don’t need knowledge, but only a diploma, this is also motivation to pass, at least with an average score. If you are an adventurer and the result is not important to you, then passing the sessions is a fun game, but there is a possibility that someday you will want to grow up and consciously go to get an education - then this article will be useful to you.
