What is art therapy? Art therapy is treatment through art. This term was first introduced by artist Adrian Hill, who noticed positive changes when working with sick people that creativity had on them. Freud and Jung first thought about this. They noticed that through creativity a person expresses what he cannot express in the usual way (and, often, he does not realize much). Art therapy is a very effective, accessible and has no contraindications method of personality therapy. The environmental friendliness of such an impact is inherent in nature itself. In the process of creativity, a person realizes his thoughts, even those that he hides from himself as a result of his own stereotypical behavior patterns, fears, blocks, etc. I, as an art therapist and artist, am not a supporter of interpretations. Despite the large number of different drawing techniques, there is no right or wrong option, answer, or result. There is only life. And life itself is not a mistake. A mistake is the step we take on our path. But! we can always choose another path. And art therapy helps very well with this. Gently, carefully and effectively. Of course, a lot depends on how far we are willing to go in our changes and exploration of ourselves. But there is no correct answer here either. At every stage of our life, we change it exactly as much as we need it. Crisis in Chinese means danger and opportunity. And it is depicted in the form of two hieroglyphs. And each person himself chooses in any moment of crisis for himself, what is it for him - a danger or an opportunity? And to better understand, you can seek help from an art therapist or psychologist. In what cases does art therapy help? The range of applications is wide: from working through one’s own fears and responding to a stressful situation, coping with acute or chronic stress, to working through family needs, problems in relationships with loved ones, including children, professional issues and health issues. Art therapy is multifaceted. It can be either an independent treatment or a way of reacting, relieving tension, finding harmony, personal development, self-knowledge. As many directions in art exist, so many directions can be identified in art therapy. Writing fairy tales, painting, dancing, singing, working with a potter's wheel, play therapy, mask therapy, sand therapy, color therapy, creating dolls, phototherapy, music therapy, etc. Creativity itself makes a person’s life interesting and rich, fills it with a special meaning, through which a person treats himself. Through self-expression, a person can look at himself from the outside, look at a problematic situation from a different angle. When drawing, a person transfers his inner world into the drawing. All our unspoken thoughts are blocked in the body, and this leads to physical and neurotic disorders. By pouring out emotions and feelings onto canvas, onto paper, into dance, a person helps himself, his body, free himself from unnecessary “blocks” and be alive. Creative manifestation of oneself is the path to oneself, the opportunity to successfully build one’s life. When undergoing art therapy, a person reproduces his subconscious into visual expression. Everyone has a need to express themselves, and by creating something, they feel satisfied, as if they find themselves, harmony in themselves. An important point! In art therapy, work is not evaluated or compared. It can be difficult for an adult to decide to express himself and needs to be supported when he has taken the first step and decided to undergo therapy. The therapist’s task is to create a space in which a person himself can understand the meaning of his difficulties and find a way out of them, take a fresh look at the problem. Modern practical psychology actively uses art therapy methods along with other approaches. This is an accessible, effective psychological relief that is necessary and accessible to any healthy person. Introduce any creativity into your life on the system!
