And so, dear friends, we continue to expand a little on issues related to the topic of psychological counseling and therapy. We are approaching the third format of working with a psychologist/therapist - face-to-face meetings. The previous two are here: What format? (first) What format (second) Perhaps this time I won’t outline the relative pros and cons of the format (not because it’s my favorite format), but let’s just try to give it a description. Let's change the rhythm :) And what of this will be a “plus” or a “minus” - everyone will decide for themselves. The first thing worth mentioning is the meeting itself. It's happening. Live, not on screen. The energy of a place, two people, experiences and feelings - all this is much stronger. Along the way, a person prepares, worries and brings his mood with him. For him, this is a complete novelty. Getting out of the comfort zone of the place from which he would communicate online. Nothing will interfere with our meeting. Even if the lights in the office go out, it will not interrupt us. The connection will not be broken; reactions will be natural and varied. The background will be felt more clearly and the conversation will become lively. Dynamic. A person will be able to understand, but how can he even be here? In this office? Next to me? How does he feel now? What does he see? Does he notice himself at this moment? Oh, all kinds of experiments and exercises are available to us. We have everything we need ready for this at our fingertips. We will be together - close, at all moments of what is happening. A personal meeting is always deeper in level than any other. Of course, you will have to work hard. Choose a time, a day, and at the same time comply with the agreements. There is no small share of responsibility here. Which immediately becomes part of the therapeutic space. Time for the road, distribution of your resources and strength, readiness, exhalation and meeting. The cost of personal meetings is of course higher, but the return will be stronger. And again, I repeat, it’s not just about the specialist himself - it’s also about the format. When any personal meeting occurs, it is always different than a call, video or correspondence, right? It's the same in the counseling and therapy space. The psychologist or therapist will be more involved, since he will use everything that a face-to-face meeting provides for this. This does not mean that he will be indifferent when calling or corresponding - but there are limitations that, alas, are not realistic to overcome. For some, such a meeting will seem alarming. Feelings of fear, mistrust, and excitement may appear. And this is natural. And these feelings are also part of such an event as a psychological/therapeutic meeting. And if such a meeting does occur, then the person has at least taken a step towards something that he may not have done before. Cool, right? Get something significant already in the first steps. And this format is very convenient for couples. You can sit comfortably in armchairs or a sofa the way you want. No need to huddle near your phone or computer screen. And for a specialist this will already be valuable information (as well as for a couple), to see themselves from the outside. To see what is no longer noticed, what is automatic; and make it visible and manifest again. Be that as it may, we have reviewed with you the main formats of working with a psychologist and therapist. Each format has its own nuances and moments. And it’s good that there are so many of them and they are diverse; Just like you and me, we are also different and diverse.
