Coaching, perhaps many people have heard this word, but if you ask someone what it means, not everyone will be able to give at least some definition. Let's try to delve a little deeper into this concept. Coaching was initially used to train athletes and took the form of directive guidance, leading the athlete to the ultimate goal - victory, through a system of planned training and identifying prospects. This technique gave very encouraging results. And someone decided that it would be reasonable to apply the same approach to business, personal growth, career formation, and creative achievements. The modern definition of coaching tells us that it is a system that allows you to unlock a person’s potential. Help him realize himself. Identify hidden non-adaptive mechanisms of functioning and form a system of behavior that will allow you to function as effectively as possible in reality. Initially, coaching was built on a cognitive-behavioral basis and, perhaps, to this day in developed countries this is the main approach to coaching. Why is this so? When we engage in coaching, we must create a structure, a plan, a clear, rational approach to our capabilities and to the surrounding objective reality. This is the ability to use, analyze, synthesize data, operate with facts most effectively, and form a harmonious, orderly system. The cognitive behavioral approach meets all these requirements. This is not an easy method, but it is the most popular method and the most effective. This has been confirmed by many studies. Now let's touch on, as an example, several techniques of the cognitive-behavioral approach used in business. Let's take at least the basics of time management, which are the basis of CBT. Priorities. Planning. Timing. When we talk about priorities, cognitive-behavioral methods come to our aid: identifying alternatives, assessing benefits and costs, which allow us to objectively assess the presence of all possible alternatives, as well as assess how positive or negative they are. There are times when the choice is not obvious. In this case, the “What if” technique will help us make a decision, allowing us not only to evaluate the benefits and costs, the percentage probability of the correct choice, but also to draw up a crisis plan in case the project is unsuccessful. If we move on to planning, then the cognitive-behavioral approach has a number of techniques that allow us to objectify this process. Let’s say if the goal is multi-level, then the gradient technique will help us achieve it step by step. Cognitive and crisis planning allows you to prevent the aspect of surprise and form a clear system for achieving the goal. At the timing stage, we will be helped by the technique of creating a “daily routine”, which is used in the cognitive-behavioral approach. There are times when objectivity is far from our understanding. We are faced with maladaptive, irrational options. In this case, the “Reattribution” technique will allow us to look at the current situation from a slightly different angle. The construction of scales will make it possible to statistically display and compare the results obtained with high accuracy. Sometimes, when we are faced with a multi-layered problem, it is useful to conduct a cognitive analysis that allows us to isolate the true nature of “things” and break the situation down into its elements. The technique of working with unfounded guesses will allow you to look into the future more realistically and highlight the preconditions that indicate a worsening of the situation or its stability. The next approach is relational. In CBT, he has many opportunities to analyze the needs and desires of people from the business environment, modify or operate with them depending on our needs. In the same approach, there are effective methods for making decisions. The behavioral approach in CBT allows us to manage the behavior of subordinates, creating desirable behavior and preventing undesirable behavior. We drew our attention to a small contribution of techniques that can improve the state of affairs in business. But.
