From the author: Are you happy? Or are you waiting for something in the future to call yourself happy? Some of my friends complain that they don’t have time to do anything, there are only 24 hours in a day, and they need twice as many or, even better, to live five lives at the same time. No matter how much they do in a day, it is not enough for them. At the same time, there is enough money to live on, and also free time. “You have a day off tomorrow, and today you have the whole evening ahead of you.” – But on my day off I have cleaning, and today I want to draw, sing songs and write an article in LiveJournal, and I definitely won’t have time for all this. – What do you want most of all right now? - Lie on the sofa. - So why not lie down, and write the article, drawings and songs another time? They focus on how much they haven’t done yet, how much needs to be done, and not on what they want now. You can pay attention to what they are happy with in their lives, what they have, and how good it makes them feel. Or you can suffer and yearn for what doesn’t exist. Our lives come to an end someday, and time is an irreplaceable resource. Once it has passed, there is no way to return it. But we have a choice - how to treat the time that is passing right now, how to fill it, be sad or happy. These same friends of mine postpone happiness until later. - When I get married... - When I give birth to a child... - When I have my own apartment... - When I meet the love of my life... - When I earn a lot of money... - When I go to the Maldives on vacation... - When I recover... Life cannot be postponed for the future, it happens exactly at this moment. When people have these desires fulfilled, they do not always feel happy. Having received an apartment, a husband or a child, they begin to strive for something else. Therefore, it is worth looking for happiness in daily life. It consists of little things, pleasant things, little joys, amazing surprises if you notice them. I like to be happy and enjoy life. Much more than yearning for the impossible and complaining about how bad everything is. Therefore, I pay attention to what gives me pleasure: – I have worked well and am relaxing with a warm soft blanket, an interesting book and a cup of fragrant cocoa. I enjoy these minutes. – My husband has gone to work, and I listen to my favorite music, cook new recipes, dance or watch good films. I feel light at heart. – I walk down the street and admire the evening lights, patterned bridges and soft snowflakes swirling in the air. What a beautiful world! I don’t worry if today I didn’t do something that I could or thought about during the day. If not today, then tomorrow. For me, something else is more important: what do I want right now, what will bring me moments of small everyday happiness. When I celebrate wonderful moments day after day, my life as a whole seems wonderful to me and I feel happy.
