Just yesterday your baby went to kindergarten, and his main activities were walks and games, but today he is already a first-grader and there is much more demand from him. To make adaptation to school as painless as possible , the correct behavior of parents is very important. The main problems of adaptation. The start of school life is stressful for a child. It often happens that a child goes to school on September 1 with joy and a desire to learn. But after some time, pleasant expectations are replaced by anxiety and stress. Four main problems in children during the adaptation period can be identified: 1. Difficulties in communication. A first-grader has to get used to both the teacher and his classmates. If in the family the child knew that he was always in charge and his wishes were fulfilled, then it would be difficult for him in the classroom. It is advisable for him to find friends among his classmates, then it will be easier for him to get used to it and join the team.2. Difficulties in perception and concentration. At the age of seven, children find it difficult to pay attention, and they are required to sit still and listen throughout the lesson. If the family did not teach the child to accept information, talked to him little and brushed aside questions, it will be very difficult for him to adapt.3. Difficulty organizing and maintaining yourself. A first-grader must be able to dress neatly, clean up his desk, and pack his briefcase. Parents must teach all this.4. Difficulties related to physical health. It happens that a child gets tired quickly, sees poorly, and has problems with speech. All this makes adaptation much more difficult. How to help a first-grader. Adaptation to school is not easy for all children. How quickly a child copes with a new role depends on his individual characteristics and, of course, on parental participation. Mom and dad can help a first-grader get used to a new life in the following ways: 1. Try to understand that the primary task in the first half of the year and even the year is adaptation. This is exactly what we need to worry about, and not about whether the child has learned to solve problems and whether he fulfills the standards for reading techniques. If he does not adapt now, then all further studies may be at risk.2. Don’t leave your future first-grader in the dark - tell him about the school: how the lessons are going, what the teacher will do, where the canteen is, what after-school activities are.3. Tell us about your school childhood. The child should know that mom and dad also studied at school and experienced the same feelings. Tell us what grades you received, what your favorite school subjects were.4. Practice basic household skills with your child: fastening buttons, tying shoelaces, using the toilet, eating carefully with a spoon and fork. Teach your son or daughter to seek help from adults to find out directions, etc.5. Maintain your child's friendships with classmates.6. Don't compare your son or daughter to other children. It is more correct to compare his achievements now and, for example, six months ago.7. Do not set your child up only for an excellent result (and no other). “Why did you do it well, you could have done it perfectly?” Can you imagine how offensive it is to hear this for a kid who tried his best!8. Don't scold your child when he doesn't succeed. It is much more correct to praise for what happened.9. Tell your baby how much you love him more often. Let him always know and feel that he has a powerful rear in the form of his parental family. The child’s adaptation depends on himself, on the teacher, but also on the family. Support your first graders. Love and take care of your children!
