Almost each of us has sworn at least once, and some even speak it. Let's figure out why people use profanity, what impact swear words have on those people to whom they are addressed, and on the very authors of such sayings. We will also consider ways to get rid of the habit of using obscene language, and although this will not help to completely eliminate the use of obscene words, it will most likely be possible to reduce their number - of course, if there is a sincere desire to do so. Recently, information has appeared that British and Swedish Scientists have proven the usefulness of obscene language. According to researchers, swearing helps to better express emotions and also increases trust between interlocutors. Swearing allows you to make another person laugh, neutralize your own negative feelings such as pain and anger, and also express joy. According to experts, profanity is no longer vulgarity or a sign of low intelligence. Swearing can be a powerful weapon in every sense of the word, but only if it is used correctly. Scientists have studied over a hundred articles on swearing and found that swearing is different from other forms of language and can have a stronger impact. So, on to the positive aspects The use of abusive language can be attributed to: Reducing pain. Relieving psychological tension in a stressful situation. The ability to succinctly and concisely convey your thoughts to your opponent. Of course, it is desirable that such situations arise rarely. Availability of communication with those members of society who do not understand another language. In such cases, swearing allows you to quickly and accurately convey a thought to your interlocutor. It is difficult to argue with the positive aspects of using swear words. But, on the other hand, it is important to note the negative aspects of swearing. These include: No matter what anyone says, in many cases the use of swear words characterizes the speaker as a person who is unable to speak normally and express emotions in a decent way. The ability to realize and express one’s feelings is as significant an indicator as IQ (it’s not for nothing that this ability is called emotional intelligence). There is a version that thoughts, especially if they are filled with powerful energy, can materialize. Here we can draw an analogy with the power of prayer and faith in its effect. And just as a prayer said for good can heal a person, so foul language spoken in the hearts can do harm and attract troubles and failures. Frequent use of profanity can lead to the development of mental disorders. The effect is enhanced if the statement is offensive and goes beyond what is permissible. For example, if swearing is heard in front of small children or comes from a higher authoritarian leadership. If you decide to reduce the presence of swear words in your speech, or get rid of it altogether, you should turn to the following techniques: awareness - you need to accept the idea that the use of swear words has gone wrong beyond the norm and has turned into a bad habit that cannot be controlled; attentiveness - you need to track the moments when you resort to swearing, and, if possible, limit the influence of the most stressful situations on you; trick - you should determine for yourself in front of which people you are ashamed to use swear words vocabulary (parents, loved one, child, friends, colleagues), and keep their images in your mind, as if these people are always near you, see and hear you; environment - you can remember all the people from your life who abused swearing, and imagine what feelings their behavior aroused in you (maybe it was disgust, reluctance to communicate and other negative reactions); the nature of thinking - it is worth changing the negative perception of the world to a positive one, because it is optimistic people who are least likely to use swear words in their speech, and they are also susceptible to other bad habits.
