It started when I devoted my life to psychology. My surroundings were simply perplexed. They constantly asked me: “What are you going to do now?” “What is your job now?” “Why are you even being paid money for?” For just talking to me?” In general, there were a lot of negative (or, as experts say, frustrating) questions. Of course, I perfectly understood that this negativity was not directed at me personally. But the lack of understanding of the value of a psychologist was, as they say, “evident.” By the way, all these frustrating questions did not frustrate me at all :)) Since I knew that psychology is MINE. My calling, if you like. My purpose. Yes, in principle, it doesn’t matter what you call it, but I think many people understand what we’re talking about and how important it is - to find your favorite thing, which you can do at least 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When I see the satisfied eyes of my happy clients are the highest reward for me! And at this moment you are once again convinced that you are in the right place. PS By the way, psychology perfectly resolves issues with choosing YOUR path, your destiny. But that’s not about that now. Now I want to lift the veil of secrecy about what a psychologist actually does. And what is its value? Because many people, like my friends and acquaintances before, ask questions: “How can a psychologist help at all?” “What result does he give?” And it’s true. After all, what you get at an appointment with a psychologist cannot be touched, felt, or exchanged for something else. At first glance, it is generally something ephemeral. BUT this is only for the FIRST! Recently, I started a very interesting dialogue with one woman. Because they are similar Many people are asking questions, I wanted to share our conversation. I have shortened something, but it is publicly available on my page. So, with the permission of my interlocutor, I present our communication in a question-answer format ******************** ********************QUESTION: How does a psychologist help? He won't give you money. We have to pay him. The priest can pray and feel better. A friend can at least listen and pray if he wants. Even relatives sometimes provide some relief with their presence. What is the help of a psychologist? ANSWER: A professional psychologist is everything that you listed and even more, only deeper, further, faster, without judgment, with the ability to 100% accept a person (anyone, regardless of gender, age, views and etc.) And all this in an ever-increasing progression (well, if this is, indeed, a specialist striving for professional development in order to be able to work with completely different situations). Here, of course, we need to make a reservation that learning to accept a person is a completely different story and it won’t work “by the book.” But that’s another story :)) By the way, you can completely work out some things yourself. But this, of course, is not as effective as with a psychologist. And it is not just words. The fact is that our psyche is structured in such a way that as soon as we approach any kind of psychological trauma, all work is sabotaged. This happens automatically, at the level of the instinct of self-preservation. And with a psychologist, this trauma is dealt with in an environmentally friendly way and a person literally opens up new opportunities in life. QUESTION: Natalia, thank you for your answer. Still a question. How approximately does help come? I think psychologists can only listen? And what else? If I go to treat my heart or bones, I assume that there may not be a result, but at least I somehow understand what I’m paying for. I noticed that when the time ran out, she (the psychologist I went to) was not interested and she easily dropped the topic, but there was the essence. ANSWER: I am familiar with everything that you wrote about your experience of communicating with a psychologist: and about coldness , and about the fact that it’s not interesting when time runs out. Yes, there is that too. Unfortunately:((To make it clear where I know everything from. When I started my practice, I was looking for my own psychologist with whom I could work out my emerging situations (this is necessary so that,)
