Undeservedly little attention is paid to this disease, since the problem is much wider than it seems. Until now, the world has not placed emphasis on the prevention of disorders that appear in old age, nor has information been widely disseminated on how to recognize these disorders in the early stages. Senile dementia (which is no longer so senile - the average age of onset is 54- 56 years old) is a brain disease that manifests itself in the slow death of nerve cells with subsequent loss of intelligence. There are several stages of development of this disease: It all starts small: I forgot my keys, slightly lost track of time, did not remember some details from the events. That is, at the initial stage it is expressed in a slight decrease in memory functions. Memory impairments begin to progress, the person gets confused in current events, difficulties arise with orientation in space, abstract thinking is impaired, difficulties with generalization and comparison appear, the person becomes unable to answer financial issues, travel independently. A person loses memory of events of the present and past (here selectively) time. Memories of childhood and youth are preserved, the patient increasingly indulges in them, and false memories appear. The skill of orientation in space and time is practically lost, emotional instability appears. The patient completely loses memory, and with it the ability to self-identify, can no longer draw conclusions, reason, the sense of time disappears completely. At the last stage, the psyche is completely destroyed, consciousness returns to primitive reflexes, severe neurological diseases occur. Also at each stage the following features may appear: such people are always eager to leave home, express aggression, and are constantly worried and worried. Starting from the third stage, the patient needs constant supervision and care. Under stress factors, the development of the disease sharply accelerates, the period from the first signs of the disease to death is reduced to 2 years. At the moment, there are no exact recommendations for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease, however, there is supportive drug therapy, the effect of which, unfortunately, weakens over time. But, as with any other disease, early diagnosis and timely initiation of treatment can significantly improve the patient’s condition and help prevent the disease from reaching its final stage.
