Unfortunately, this is the most common request among clients: “low self-esteem, how to increase it?” There is no definite answer here and cannot be. I would like to say that in general self-esteem is an individual’s subjective assessment of himself and his worth. Very often it is not true. But at the same time, it plays a huge role in the formation of thoughts, emotions, behavior and lifestyle in general. Of course, the first and main people who influence the formation of self-esteem are parents. Their support and approval, or vice versa, influences the development of self-esteem. Society also has a strong influence when we begin to compare ourselves with someone else. Here it is important to learn to understand that you only need to compare yourself with yourself yesterday, and not with another person. Learn from someone, take an example, imitate, but do not compare. Otherwise, this is the path to low or high self-esteem, but not to adequate self-esteem. Raising your self-esteem with one wave of the hand or one exercise, of course, will not work. It is necessary to carry out comprehensive work on yourself. Find the reasons why you don’t love and value yourself. As a rule, most of the reasons lie deep in childhood. And work through them step by step. But there are still several practices that will help you understand yourself better and add self-confidence. Success Diary. Try every day for 10 minutes in the evening at the end of the day to write down your successes and achievements, small and big victories. It could be anything: helped your mother around the house, started playing sports, read a book, completed a report at work on time, etc. Do this practice for at least 3 months every day. This way you will learn to notice your advantages and achievements, and your value in your own eyes will increase. You will realize that you have many talents and positive traits, and your self-esteem will begin to grow accordingly. The second practice that has been very effective with my clients is called Positive Self-Image. The essence of it is to imagine yourself as who you want to become. Write down everything in detail: how you look, what you are wearing, what you are doing, what emotions you experience, how you speak, where you live, etc. Consciousness and body are a single interconnected system. Positive ideas about yourself will definitely be reflected in your behavior, thoughts, and attitude. Every day for a few minutes (5-10) imagine yourself as you want to be. By devoting 15 minutes a day to these practices, you will feel self-love and confidence in your abilities.!
