Faith in God or fear of death. Ch-1. When I worked part-time at a hospice at the beginning of my practice, as an inquisitive and young specialist I was often faced with various existential questions. Why does oncology happen to people, how do they feel, when did it happen and what are the experiences. I analyzed the stages of Kübler-Ross, studied thanatotherapy, the psychology of dying, but gradually began to notice that most of the people before Departure began to try to talk to me about Faith, Space, Soul, Nature, etc. Around the hospital there was very beautiful nature, forest, alleys, The birds and I, walking along these alleys, often thought and reflected on the emergence of religion, relationships with God, etc. And why do people begin to be interested in this question before they die? After all, in fact, there are a lot of different historical and cultural theories that describe the reasons for the appearance of these phenomena. But the process and path of an individual, a person, is illuminated quite little, and if it is illuminated, it is not particularly clear. I will try to describe this process a little. The relationship that a person establishes with God often resembles the dependent relationship of a child and a parent. On the one hand, God is an authority that satisfies desires, loves unconditionally, and on the other hand, remember, as in Dostoevsky, “There is no God, so everything is permitted.” God acts as a controlling and punitive authority. As the deeply respected and revered grandfather Freud rightly pointed out, a person unconsciously projects the image of his father onto God. Consequently, faith in God turns out to be a very regressive infantile process. The next point worth paying attention to is that it is very rarely possible to notice the religious component, where faith in God appears impersonally, without satisfying desires - “Help, save, do this, that way.” , I want this, that. Therefore, here there is a need for a Higher Power for those who find it difficult to manifest emotional-volitional components. It seems that Faith itself very often depends on age characteristics. A small child or teenager doesn’t need God, he has his own internal locus of control, activity and parents, but who are the parents? With age, people, losing their biological and psychological capabilities, become increasingly dependent on circumstances, care, support, because control over many areas of life and functions is lost. And I often thought that maybe Faith in God arises as a certain protection from the severity of fate, on the one hand, and on the other hand, maybe a person is gradually moving into some other space and he himself no longer really needs it. Maybe this faith is an attempt to find inner meaning and understand ourselves more deeply? So it turns out that a person is afraid of death when he puts his self at the center of the universe, when he perceives himself only as something material, social, I Vasya Pupkin work here and there, I am a man of so many years, I have a car, an apartment, children, the basic set of the average person. And that is why this category associates the fear of death, as the fear of losing everything acquired through backbreaking labor). And therefore, most are afraid to think about it for fear of losing everything, but I believe that it is necessary to think about the finitude of our existence, because we are not only a material body, but we are also a soul, and in order to feel like a soul, we need to exercise spiritual practices, expand consciousness. Let's not take a break for long)
