Uncertainty is a condition that is quite difficult to describe. Perhaps that is why our ancestors did not come up with a separate word to denote this condition. They added the particle "not", a negation, to the word "confidence". What confidence is is more clear. And we perceive the state of uncertainty as precisely a lack of confidence. It’s as if there should be confidence, but there isn’t. It is unknown what is there. But the more important thing is that there is no certainty. The experience of uncertainty is unpleasant and uncomfortable. Often people describe their experiences when they are uncertain, also through words and phrases that speak of scarcity. “I can’t”, “I won’t succeed”, “I don’t know how to do this”, “I feel inadequate”, “I don’t believe that this is possible”. This halo of “scarcity” that has arisen around feelings of insecurity leads to the fact that those who experience it want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Uncertainty is ignored, suppressed, denied. I suggest looking at uncertainty from the other side. Any feeling is generated by our intelligent body. Every feeling arises to help with something, to report something. Let's try to notice what useful things uncertainty can convey. Let's do a little experiment for this. Remember the last time you felt insecure. Answer the question for yourself: “What did you feel insecure about?” What did you need to feel confident and calm? You may remember that you lacked some skills or money, perhaps support. Look, it seems that uncertainty indicates a lack of resources. This feeling arises in order to point out to a person a “weak” place in his preparation. And it's very useful. With our minds, we cannot always think through our “weak points” that need to be improved during preparation. And uncertainty very clearly points us to them. Try to pay more attention to your insecurities and you may want to be more attentive to your insecurities and kinder to yourself when you experience these feelings. You will also receive a tool that will help you better prepare for new and difficult situations. And through this, you can regain your confidence. Do you want to learn how to successfully use your insecurities? Come train for the training “Uncertainty as a resource for achievement” this Sunday, June 18, at 12.00.
