The ability to regulate the intensity of your experiences is a useful skill, especially if you are an emotional and impressionable person. NLP has a fairly easy-to-use technique that will help you learn to manage your experiences and relate to them much more simply than usual. To perform and use the technique you will need a quiet place, a good imagination and a few unpleasant situations to work with. Technique1. Choose an unpleasant situation. Perhaps it will be a quarrel in a raised voice, or you have witnessed some kind of emergency, and now what you saw is right before your eyes, etc. In this technique, we will work either with sound or with a picture.2. To make it easier to understand how technology works, imagine that you are holding a TV remote control or a computer mouse in your hands. You can always adjust the settings to suit you: you can apply the desired effects to the picture, and make the sound quieter or louder.✓ If sounds predominate in your memory, then try to set the volume with which you were comfortable remembering the situation. For example, if loud voices are imprinted in your head, turn the volume down. You can also imagine that the person is speaking very slowly or too quickly, as if at 2x speed. Perhaps now you will even find it funny to watch the situation. ✓ Do the same with the visual. If an unpleasant picture is too close, then mentally move it to a comfortable distance, make a bright one dim and blurry, etc. Do you feel how the perception of the situation is changing? Trust your subconscious and work with those parameters that first come to mind.3. Changing the intensity of the experience Now take a break for a couple of minutes, drink some water, shake yourself, stretch... Then again remember that situation in its original form. Adjust the necessary settings that you used in the second point: quieter/slower/faster/further/darker....There can be a lot of parameters to work with, choose the key ones and work with them.✓ By the way, very often it turns out that when working with a picture you automatically influence sounds. For example, making a picture black and white, the sound may immediately become muffled. Everything is individual. Do the third point at least 5 - 7 times, each time changing the settings faster and faster. That is: a) remembered the situationb) adjusted it to suit yourselfc) got distracted.4. Check If you did everything correctly, the situation will no longer start in its original form. The added “settings” will begin to work automatically and worries will no longer bother you as much as before. If significant changes do not occur, then do the third step several more times, without being afraid to add something new.5. Training the unconscious If you want the skill to be built in, then do all of the above with various unpleasant moments, i.e. take at least 3-5 more situations and work with them. Next time, your subconscious will have a choice with what intensity to react to troubles, which will make your life much easier and calmer.#psychologist_che
