Over the past 5 years, the topic of autism spectrum disorders (hereinafter referred to as ASD) has come out of the shadows and loudly declared itself. This is associated, on the one hand, with an increase in the percentage of births of children with ASD (but at the same time, the diagnostic tools for “isolating” them from the cauldron of characteristics have also been sharpened). On the other hand, the same correction and adaptation techniques have reached Russia. Thanks to the Exit Foundation (a titanium in this regard), anyone suffering today can familiarize themselves with the specifics of the disease on their website or participate in “solving problems.” The minds of the globe are still looking for the causes of autism and there are still more questions than answers. Some theories hold the lead, some fall from the top. Some make you think, some make you grab your stomach. But let's leave this for clinical scientists, and turn to the ways of identifying symptoms and their correction that interest us. The most common is early autism, which is diagnosed by +/- 3 years. Most often, parents say that in the first years the child behaved like a neurotypical (as “norm” is correctly called), then gradually or suddenly he was replaced. Some begin to notice oddities in a child’s behavior as early as one year of age. It makes no sense to list a complete list of diagnostic criteria in this format. The most striking thing that is worth paying attention to is what will be a beacon: the child becomes alienated: the world of objects attracts him disproportionately more than the world of people and relationships; stereotypical actions appear: the child seems to get stuck on a certain movement or manipulation with an object, it is repeated until exhaustion; speech suffers : in gradation from its complete absence (but with vocalizations, mooing, individual sounds) to colloquial speech (but with echolalia, rigidity, etc.): affective outbursts appear, unacceptable behavior: the child throws tantrums, injures himself or loved ones, achieves what he wants exclusively screams, demonstrates an inability to cope with the feelings that flood him. By the way, not all of them avoid eye contact. Some people don’t just look, but magnetize with their gaze. They also love to charm, although they can also bite (before the start of therapy, of course). Sometimes a child can put together a “combo” and a good portion of violations will be clearly demonstrated, sometimes only a couple of points are obtained, and for some people the features are superficial, the so-called autistic traits. What to do if you come across the topic of children with ASD in your environment? First of all, parents have to realize and accept that the child has ASD. And this is the most difficult thing. And necessary. Of course, you can pay money every day to an army of professionals and wait for the child to “become normal again,” but such a position will greatly hinder his achievements and lead parents further and further from an adequate connection with reality. The emotional interaction of a parent with a child, his/her implementation of recommendations and algorithm of reactions to unwanted behavior plays a very important role. Also at stake is the timely provision of “help.” It is known for sure that the earlier you start working with a child, the greater the chances of success, in particular, in social adaptation. It is impossible to say at what speed and results the child’s development will progress. The influencing factors are innumerable - these are the physiological potencies of the body, the environment and diet of the child, the weather outside the window. After a wave of shock and denial, it is necessary to begin to act. It is mandatory to undergo a medical examination by a neurologist and psychiatrist. If necessary (as well as for concomitant diseases), medications are prescribed. By the way, good psychiatrists in this case are also worth their weight in gold, and the rule “expensive means good” does not work here. And let there be several of them. Next, you can contact a specialized private children's center, where the child will be tested on knowledge/abilities/skills and an individual program will be drawn up. The child will be taught at home, in a space specially equipped for this purpose. The number of hours and days is assigned individually, based on.
