Art therapy. How does it work? In the narrow sense of the word, art therapy usually means visual arts therapy aimed at influencing the psycho-emotional state of the client. Art therapy is also positioned as a whole independent direction in psychology. But in my work I use art as a tool. It is certainly based on my main specialization - gestalt. It turns out to be art-gestalt. Art therapy works mainly with unconscious processes. Its origins include famous psychoanalysts - Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud. They noticed that in creativity a person expresses hidden desires and emotions. Later, artist Adrian Hill, in his work with tuberculosis patients, noticed the positive impact of creativity on the condition of patients. It was he who first introduced the concept of “art therapy”. A therapeutic effect was also discovered when working with phobias, stress, and depression. In addition to the creative process itself, which calms and structures the inner world and emotional state, metaphor and projection help. During the session, the client creates a metaphor himself from anything - plasticine, clay, draws, expresses the metaphor in a mask, painting it, shows it with his body, composes using words - writes a fairy tale, for example. The thing is that in our unconscious information is contained in the form of symbols, images, metaphors that have a certain emotional content. In order to explore a particular psychological problem using this method, we need to find and create such an image, bring it to a conscious level, discover and live the emotions associated with it and gain new experience. By projecting our inner world and experiences onto paper (or any the material from which a creative product is created) - the client can see it as if from the outside, notice something that was hidden, shift the focus and consider the situation from different angles. This helps to find a new way of adaptation. To put it in a completely simplified and exaggerated way - by drawing your problem, you can discover ways to solve it. What’s also important is that you don’t need to be able to draw to use art therapy. All creative products are not evaluated in any way from an artistic point of view, but serve as material for contact. I invite you to try it! 🤗 On Sunday there will be an art meeting on such a tempting topic as “money”. More details at the link 👇http://psygeshtalt.tilda.ws/artmoney
