Because life and the path to success, glory and victories in battles over the dragon (hunger, pestilence, poverty, obscurantism) is all that occurs between events, dates. And this sometimes lasts a very LONG time. For example, successful success for a person 200 years ago was in longevity (to live without normal medicine for at least 40 years), satiety and a roof over your head. Oh yes, and not in slavery, or in a debt trap. Can you imagine how many successful successes, which our ancestors did not even dare to dream of, happen to people every day today? Desires have always been a problem for people, because (in Gestalt psychology this is called the field phenomenon) dreams and plans transform the consciousness of not only who wished for something, but also those around him. For example, in a family you cannot wish for something very large and valuable (a cool, expensive SUV) for yourself without colliding with the opinions and resources of those around you. If the family has a common budget, but only you need an SUV, a transformation of relationships occurs called “you want it, but we can’t.” Conflict? Yes. All desires are tested by conflicts, external or internal. And according to field theory, only the desire that is supported by the field (communication environment) survives and is realized.
