From the author: An interesting case from practice. I am printing with the kind permission of the client. Elena has long been bothered by real health problems. Doctors insisted on urgent hospitalization in the surgical department. And Elena was ready for inpatient treatment and really wanted it. She even dreamed of the upcoming operation as a way to get rid of her suffering, but she constantly postponed it. And my health was getting worse and worse... (Here readers begin to be perplexed, and the most emotional ones begin to cry loudly). Why did you delay? Well, how could she do it if all the work at the factory depended only on her efforts!? What will happen to the annual plan if she goes on sick leave in the middle of the fourth quarter!? It’s blasphemous to even think about it!!! This is “mean!”, “irresponsible!”, “immoral!”, “inhumane!”... (Readers who are most responsible for their official duties and irresponsible for their interests can independently continue the long list of labels that Elena hung on the desire to take care of oneself).Elena’s work consisted of her walking around noisy production shops and giving valuable instructions with her loud voices, habitually drowning out the roar of machines. She was the strong-willed center of all production. Elena was sure that without her instructions not a single worker would move, and if they did, it would definitely be in the wrong direction and would do everything wrong. (There is an assumption that even the conveyor belt at the factory was moved not by electric motors, but solely by Elena’s willpower). And then on one terrible or happy day, Elena “became a fish.” Right in the morning, habitually ignoring the pain in her body, she tried to give some particularly valuable instructions that would probably save the factory, but even the rustling of the legs of a random cockroach seemed like a rockfall compared to her whisper. Yes, yes, Elena simply could not speak. Silently opening her mouth and widening her eyes in horror, she ran around the workshop, resembling a frightened fish. On this tragic day for the factory, Elena was forced to go on sick leave for the first time in her life. (Here the readers are divided into two irreconcilable groups: some begin to worry about the economic development of the country, others quietly applaud. Both groups were symbolically present in Elena herself that day). The surgeon at the clinic, having difficulty making out Elena’s whisper, joyfully wrote her the long-awaited referral to the surgical hospital After urgent tests, Elena was admitted to the hospital. Only after entering the ward did she finally realize that there was no turning back. Elena resigned herself to the need to take care of herself, sat relaxed on the bed and... spoke. She "ceased to be a fish"! Her voice sounded clear and loud! (In order not to accidentally offend the religious feelings of the reader, at this point I will refrain from commenting on the “miraculous healing”). Elena successfully underwent surgical treatment and returned to the factory, which, oddly enough, still continued to work in her absence. She had no more problems with her voice. And she contacted me only 3 months later about completely different symptoms, which were related to respiratory function. But of course, we could not miss such a clear example of secondary benefits from the disorder. And for those who do not know what “conversion symptoms” are, I will explain that these are unexpressed emotions and forbidden desires that have turned into the illusion of bodily ailments. Unfortunately, these emotions and desires are often not understood, or rather not allowed to be understood. There may be different reasons for the appearance of conversion disorders. And various secondary benefits. I will write about some of them in future articles. And in this case, I will say that if we do not take reasonable care of ourselves, our body (or the subconscious, as it suits you) can do it for us against our will, for example, creating conversion disorder for us. And then we will become, for example, a “fish”. Ladies and gentlemen, love yourself, understand yourself, take care of yourself and be healthy!
