❓I am often asked: “What is the work of a psychologist - practice? What happens in the office with a specialist one on one? Are these meetings different from the already known consultations at school, at the clinic, at work?” 🌿 To make it clear and to avoid “myths” about individual consultations (more on them later), I decided today to answer the most frequently asked questions. - Is it possible to limit ourselves to one meeting? - It is possible. The first meeting always lasts an hour and a half. 20-30 minutes – introduction and discussion of services and request (it’s free), and 60 minutes – the consultation itself. Depending on your request, we discuss the situation, possible solutions to the problem, and a strategy for further action. We will determine the vectors of necessary changes. And then – your life is in your hands. You understand where to go and independently move through life with new knowledge, tools and techniques. - How many sessions should you ideally attend? - There is no such figure. Everything is individual. For short-term therapy (for a specific request for correction of behavior, thoughts, perceptions, etc.), 5-6 sessions are sufficient. With long-term therapy (for complex trauma), sometimes it takes 5-6 months, sometimes it takes years. - How is long-term therapy carried out? - According to an individual schedule. Once or twice a week. More often - once at a specific time for you. We always discuss the goal, where we are going; methods by which changes occur; criteria for success and effectiveness. You tell, I ask questions. I can sometimes suggest looking at metaphorical cards, drawing something, writing about something. If you do not want to do this, we will continue to work in a conversation format. At every stage, we check with your request, goal, desire and well-being. As a result of each meeting, you take with you “something” new, which will help you not to lose “important and valuable” until the next session and which will allow you to hone the skill necessary for a harmonious life. - What is more effective: face-to-face or online consultation? - Each of the formats is effective. Depending on your conditions and needs. If you have the opportunity to retire in a room with a computer, where no one will disturb you, then online consultation is very good. A home environment often reduces anxiety and also saves time and money on traveling to my office. If, on the contrary, you always have children, husband, parents at home, or you live with friends and you want to stop in this rhythm of life, leave your familiar surroundings, immerse yourself in an atmosphere of safe communication, then the optimal solution is a personal meeting. Everyone decides for themselves. - Do I have discounts? - From this year, yes.
