What are the symptoms of low self-esteem? In general, the topic of self-esteem, self-confidence is something that clients come to me with very often. If you think about it, self-esteem in some sense is this is the foundation on which we build our lives, relationships, work, careers, etc. Why is this so? Now I’ll show you how low self-esteem manifests itself in real life: For example, you may have the following attitude: “I should be comfortable and good for others.” And it will manifest itself like this: the desire to please everyone; the inability to defend one’s boundaries; the tendency to “be patient” , even if you don’t like something; inability to express anger and irritation; fear of being left alone; holding on to relationships in which you are not valued and even used. Or if there is an attitude - “I should be able to do everything myself” - (or “only I have to deal with this myself”), then the following qualities will appear: aggression and conflict as a way of protecting self-esteem; touchiness and a tendency to blame others for my failures; devaluation of loved ones - “they will do it worse than me”; ignoring the feelings of others; fear and inability to ask for help; fear of trusting another. If there is an attitude “I am worse than others”, “I am unworthy”, then it will manifest itself like this: constant dissatisfaction with yourself and your actions, no feeling of your need and value, you agree to any conditions. Even if you don’t like them, you feel awkward when they praise and compliment you in a relationship, you are more likely to adapt to the needs and desires of your partner, even if this happens to the detriment of yourself, you live with the feeling that everything is much easier for others than for you. They are more successful, smarter, better. They are used to enduring a lot. Is it comfortable to live with this? No. But it’s scary in a different way..Can this be changed? Yes! A question for you to “think about”: how will your life change if one fine day you wake up in the morning with a feeling of self-confidence? What will be different in a relationship? How do you will you look like? How to say? What to do? Where will you work? How will others react to you?
