But first, a little story to illustrate. Once upon a time there lived a top manager. Her name was Masha. Every day Masha went to work. As a responsible employee, she was on call around the clock. Both early in the morning and late in the evening. All day long and into the night, Masha held meetings, motivated, achieved, won, organized. And, in general, she was a very successful top manager: she was praised, rewarded and even promised a promotion. One day it was all over. Masha is exhausted. She somehow didn’t care about her career or company. And not only that, everything else doesn’t matter either. She felt worthless and had no strength for anything. Everything had to be done through force. Some kind of deep emptiness. Her only wish was for everyone to leave her alone. What is the conclusion of this story? Don't turn yourself into a zombie. If you feel at risk of burnout, try to cope on your own or contact a specialist. What is important to do to prevent things from reaching emotional exhaustion: 1. Rest with a change of scenery. If you sit all week working on your laptop, and on the weekend you also use social networks, but only from your phone, this will not be a quality rest. In this case, quality rest is a walk in the park, playing sports, going somewhere, or another activity that you like and enjoy, but which involves variety from work. 2. Replacing perfectionism with objectivism. Perfectionists often try to make everything perfect down to the smallest detail, which is essentially not that important. It is important to learn to look at things objectively and stop in time. 3. Do not lead to exhaustion. If you feel that you are already tired, you can take a short break. If you realize that your strength is running low, give yourself a rest whenever possible. You shouldn’t muster up your remaining strength to finish the project, sometimes it will cost you much more in terms of resources and health. The topic of emotional burnout often intersects with an inferiority complex, inability to defend boundaries, imposed goals and neurotic desires to prove/deserve something. But these are deep topics on which a separate article can be written. Depending on the severity, emotional burnout can sometimes be dealt with on your own, and sometimes it is more effective to contact a specialist. If you need my help, please contact me.
