The psychological method of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) plays a decisive role in modern psychology and psychotherapy. One of the key concepts of this mode is automatic thoughts. Automatic thoughts are the basis of ideas that are created in people's minds in response to scenarios of events or situations. These thoughts can have a profound impact on a person's emotional state and behavior. What are automatic thoughts? Automatic thoughts are small pieces of information that are created for a person instantly and without special effort. They can be positive, negative or neutral and are often related to past experiences, beliefs and one's self-esteem. For example, when rejected at work, a person may think: “I will never be able to find a good job. I'm completely useless." This automatic thought can cause feelings of helplessness and sadness. How do automatic thoughts influence emotions and behavior? Automatic thoughts play a crucial role in changing a person's emotions and behavior. If a person often thinks negative automatic thoughts, it can lead to depression, anxiety and other emotional problems. On the other hand, positive automatic thoughts can improve mood and confidence. Important note: Automatic thoughts can be altered and irrational. CBT states that a person can learn to recognize and change such thoughts to improve their emotional state and behavior. CBT helps to understand automatic thoughts and how we perceive and respond to the world around you. Working with automatic flows can lead to a reduction in anxiety, depression and other mental problems, as well as maintaining quality of life. In order to correctly identify your automatic thoughts, you need to properly understand the repetition, you should contact a specialist. The thing is, many thoughts and reactions cannot be seen on your own; they are like blind spots. I use a cognitive behavioral approach to teach clients to recognize and change these thoughts, which helps them better understand and control their emotional state and behavior.
