If a therapist in a supervision group* is given not very positive feedback, they show some shortcomings in his work, and the client defends him at the same time (the client and the therapist are members of the supervision group), then it is important to understand that in such situations the client cannot be objective. He will defend his therapist, since he at least listened to him, has already done something useful and good for him... The client cannot, in principle, be objective (he is inside the process and cannot look at it from the outside), especially if he not a professional. Therefore, all sorts of questionnaires on aggregators asking to evaluate one or another parameter of a meeting with a psychologist or himself according to certain parameters do not have any practical significance, but are only of an advertising nature. Another thing is the response when the client simply shares his impressions of therapy, his subjective opinion._________* A supervisory group is when psychologists, under the guidance of a senior friend, train on each other in their work, analyze this work, and also analyze in absentia complex cases from their own practices and receive support and knowledge.. About other things. The client complains to the therapist about something. For example, he tells him about how rude and incompetent kindergarten teachers, school teachers, and so on have now become. He gives us examples from his experience, talks about the experience of his children being in these places. The client can talk about this for a long time. You can discuss some external events with him throughout the meeting. But this is not at all productive. We listened, understood, and it is important to move the conversation from external events to the client’s inner world. And here it is also important not to merge with him. This is only his perception, his attitudes. Are all teachers and educators bad? This is something, first of all, about his inner world. We will return to this topic in future articles, we will talk about the interesting nuances of such situations.
