Quite a lot of materials and articles are devoted to the topic of sleep, but most often they talk about its insufficient duration. Today we will consider a situation where a person sleeps for the required number of hours, however, he wakes up exhausted, tired, and not fully rested. It is believed that for an adult, the norm for sleep duration is approximately seven to nine hours. This is the time when a person should sleep, and not look at the ceiling while lying in bed. In general, you can lie in bed even the whole day, but what part of it will be complete rest - that is the question. So, let’s say you slept your normal amount, but still feel the symptoms described above. What could be the reasons? Physiological problems - for example, magnesium/iron deficiency, lack of melatonin (sleep hormone), exhausted adrenal glands, chronic diseases, etc. In this case, it is necessary to look at the rest of the symptoms that manifest themselves during the day, get tested, visit a competent doctor. External factors - sources of noise (pets, a spouse snores, some device is working loudly, street sounds), light sources (this is an extremely important point; melatonin is produced in absolute darkness, so if you “sit” in phone or computer, or your wife/husband does it, the brain perceives the light of the screen during the day and is in no hurry to fall asleep), temperature and humidity (especially during the heating season, radiators make the air incredibly dry), people sleeping nearby (children toss and turn and kick , the spouse sleeps restlessly). The solution in such situations would be to minimize all these factors: close the black-out curtains, put earplugs in your ears, run the humidifier, and evict everyone who interferes with a peaceful sleep. And, of course, no gadgets before bed, more on that in the next paragraph. The brain cannot process the information received during the day, or it received it immediately before bed. Remember, the brain processes absolutely everything that comes into it. If before going to bed you read life stories of serial maniacs, then it is unlikely that this dream will then be peaceful and cloudless. By the way, useless information on social networks also clutters up your head, and it’s even less worth working before bed. In this case, relaxing techniques can help. You should go to bed, not to read a book or watch the news, but to sleep. Set a clear rule: the bed is only for sleeping. Overeating at night/eating shortly before bed. There is nothing special to say here - with an overloaded digestive system, it will be difficult for the body to allocate strength for normal rest. Have a restful dream!
