Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by repeated bouts of overeating and excessive preoccupation with controlling body weight, which leads a person to take extreme measures designed to reduce the impact of what he eats on body weight. Bulimia nervosa was first identified as a separate eating disorder in the 1980 DSM-III diagnostic classification. Anorexia nervosa (lat. anorexia nervosa) (from ancient Greek ἀν- - “without-”, “non-” and ὄρεξις - “urge to eat, appetite”) is an eating disorder characterized by significantly reduced body weight, deliberately caused and/or supported by the patient himself, for the purpose of losing weight or preventing excess weight gain. Most often found in girls. Many experts recognize it as a type of self-harm. Valentina’s story: A young woman has reasons to avoid dating men. She is embarrassed to eat, chew and swallow food. It seems to her that she stuns everyone with her crunch. She is afraid of getting fat, so she tries to eat less, she often goes hungry, and this makes her stomach growl. She cannot allow a man to hear this loud rumbling. If she pounces on food in front of a man, yearning for it and from constant hunger, then she begins to feel nauseous. Then she needs to come up with an excuse to go to the restroom. There she vomits. Then she becomes ashamed that someone heard, saw, or suspected it. Then she simply leaves in English, without saying goodbye, causing surprise and bewilderment in the man who waited for her for an hour at a table in a cafe, and then never found her anywhere. If a man calls and tries to find out from her what’s going on, she immediately blocks him forever. After a woman vomits, her soul becomes light and easy, and when she runs away from a man, she is joyful, and there are no more complexes, feelings of guilt, or fears. She is tense before every date. She begins to have headaches, gastrointestinal upset and nausea. Questions for the client: Valentina, please tell us about yourself and your family. How long has this been happening to you? What were the prerequisites for this initially? Client’s answers: I grew up in an ordinary family. There are parents and a younger sister. I think it started in adolescence, when I began to gain a little weight. My mother and grandmother noticed my figure and made comments: “Don’t eat too much, no one will love you, no one needs fat people.” One day, a friend in the dining room pointed her finger at a boy who was looking at me. I became embarrassed to eat in front of him. On our first date at the age of 18, I couldn’t relax and refused the treat, saying that I wasn’t hungry. When I was riding a bicycle in front of my mother, my mother shouted from behind: “Well, Valka, your butt has become bigger than your sister’s.” I tried to eat green salads and vegetables. On the next date I was embarrassed, I ate crumpets, and then they made me sick. And so it went. Questions to the client: Have you gone to the doctors, had tests, checked the gastrointestinal tract? Client's answers: Yes, the doctor said it was from nerves and prescribed a sedative. I took the course and quit. It helped a little, but more self-hypnosis. I gave up dating altogether. Questions for the client: What worries you most now: problems with the fact that you can’t eat normally, or the lack of dates in your life? Client’s answers: I understand that everything is interconnected, but I can’t do otherwise. Everything is worrying. Explanations to the client: You have psychosomatics, an eating disorder and, possibly, fear of men, you are afraid of not being ideal for them. I will not make a scientific discovery now and will not reveal the great secret to you that men also eat, chew, swallow food, and go to the toilet. They do not charge via batteries and do not drink oil for refilling. Food can only be chewed with the help of teeth. The sound of chewing will not be heard very loudly with the mouth closed. When people slurp, their mouths are open. You can’t pick your teeth with your fingers in front of strangers, and everyone knows this too. Need to
