I understand everyone who wants to become better partners in relationships, work more productively, and procrastinate less. and also meditate, play sports, eat more vegetables, go to bed on time. This usually requires tedious and regular actions, in the language of the third wave of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, such actions can be called behavioral experiments and behavioral activation. Behavioral activation and behavioral experiment are two key tools in the third wave of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy that help clients change their behavior and improve their quality of life. The main idea, for example, of behavioral activation is that changes in activity and behavior can lead to changes in mood and ways of thinking, which is very relevant, say, for various depressive conditions. A behavioral experiment is a systematic testing of hypotheses about what actions could improve a person's quality of life. Behavioral activation and behavioral experiments are working, cool tools that allow you to overcome depressive and other symptoms by restoring activity, increasing number of regular, effective actions. At the same time, it should be noted that when you try to take actions to improve important areas of life, this process is usually non-linear: somewhere you put more effort and everything succeeds, and somewhere you put it off, and in others then it may not work out at all; here, with any failure, it can be quite easy to go into critical and blaming thoughts directed at yourself. I don’t have a way to completely remove criticism, however, I brought you questions for yourself that will be useful in cases where you go towards improving important areas of life: What part of what you planned were you able to do? What did you learn from the part of the plan that you couldn’t implement? If you managed to do nothing of what you planned, how did you decide not to carry out the plan? Do you have ideas about what other efforts could be invested in these tasks?
