"You are great!" - a simple phrase that we don’t say to each other very often. And even less often do we say these words to ourselves. The reasons may vary. We don’t believe in ourselves, we didn’t receive enough praise in childhood, or we don’t consider the work done important. Working with people, I understand how much support is needed and important. When a child hears such a phrase, he already glows with happiness. The adult also glows, but usually embarrassed, shy, and sometimes also in a state of shock. For how is this so? Am I great? Yes, you are great! And it’s important to remind yourself of this. Firstly, the ability to praise yourself protects you from perfectionism. Instead of always demanding incredible and perfect results from ourselves, we can sensibly evaluate our strengths and growth areas. This allows us to constantly develop, without beating ourselves up for less-than-ideal results. Secondly, when we regularly praise ourselves and give ourselves feedback, we automatically learn to give it to others. It becomes clear how honestly and openly you can praise a loved one. And support helps build warm and trusting relationships with people. Thirdly, we see concrete results of our work. This motivates you to continue moving in the same direction and achieve more global goals. But you can also praise yourself in different ways. What NOT to do: Praise yourself always and everywhere. There is a risk of unreasonably “catch a star” or stop believing in yourself. Praise yourself only for something big and meaningful. If you just showed up on time for a meeting, it’s worth praising yourself. Praise yourself without specifying what exactly you are praising for. When you explain the reason why you are great, you will want to continue in the same spirit. Praise yourself usefully: Choose several things for which you will praise yourself today. These must be specific actions or situations. Don't discriminate against the little things! They deserve to make you proud too. By the way, give yourself gifts. A reward is also great praise.
