In the spring, I often notice the onset of symptoms of depression, and among the people - the blues. Clients often come to me during this period with the same thing, so we always have something to talk about :-) In general, this is a painful condition, but if treated well, it can be useful and perhaps even (oddly enough!) pleasant. Depression occurs when some desires that are important to us are left unanswered. And in the spring, for some reason, there are especially many of them. Or they are more noticeable to many during this period. The symptoms are well known to many: fatigue; drowsiness; dark thoughts; mild, often causeless irritability; emotional depression; lack of inspiring interests; change in appetite: you want to eat a lot, especially sweets, or, on the contrary, a piece won’t fit into your throat; decrease in physical and intellectual activity; dulling of emotional response; detachment from people... All these “joys” come at the same time, or selectively You can add your own top symptoms to this list! (write in the comments, interesting) The reasons are not always so obvious. In addition to the banal vitamin deficiency (which, of course, also affects) there are many reasons in a person’s soul and relationships. I will list those that I myself notice: Everything comes to life on the outside, but not on the inside. In fact, perhaps even in winter the person’s condition was not so-so. But since it was also cold and gloomy most of the day, it did not contrast much with the surrounding situation. But in spring everything is different: there is more sun, people are lightly dressed, snowdrops are popping up, all nature comes to life. Against this background, one’s own depressed state becomes more obvious. You experience it as if you are behind some very important train. In which everything good leaves, and nothing pleasant awaits you on this deserted and lonely platform. Intimacy with others? No, have not heard! I read about the lack of intimacy in an interview with my colleague, Gestalt therapist Galina Kamenetskaya. And somehow it really resonated. In spring, everything around becomes warmer and brighter, and a lot of sympathy for others also awakens inside. Somehow you suddenly notice that you love someone very much, someone turns out to be important, you really want to meet someone, talk frankly, experience intimacy. There are many inclusions and experiences, but there are few ways to deal with it, forms of expression. And it’s scary to show it. There is a lot of vulnerability in your sympathy - what if they reject you?! Therefore, all that remains is to push it all deeper into yourself and pack it under a thick layer of blues. So that no one would ever guess that this gloomy outside and sleepy comrade inside is loving, gentle and very sympathetic! Ok Google... Where is my inspiration? I love spring air. It is so alluring, light, pleasant... As soon as you open the window of your office, look outside, you immediately want to go out for a walk, spend time outside. If, at the same time, what you are doing has not pleased you for a long time, you have lost interest, the inspiring meaning of your work, then nature successfully competes with work tasks. You literally have to force yourself to stay at work. And any violence against oneself leads to depression. It becomes important to look for lost interest, lost meaning. Otherwise, you will have to fall into a depressive state in order to somehow ignore the desire to “send everything to hell” and walk around the city with friends from morning to evening, like in childhood! Probably, especially astute readers still know good reasons to fall into the blues because spring. Share in the comments. Let's discuss! Meanwhile, as C. G. Jung wrote: “Depression is like a lady in black. If she comes, do not drive her away, but invite her to the table as a guest, and listen to what she intends to say.” Spring blues at treating it well can be valuable and carry the following advantages: If you have been hyperactive for a long time, depression helps you slow down, begin to notice something important, other than the endless race for achievements, changing impressions and personal greatness! Some in!
