A child lives in each of us until old age. The experience of early relationships determines what kind of child this is - silent and sad, or dreamy and happy. This is part of our past in us, this is a given. But if we ignore our inner child, deny it, impose bans on it, it becomes sadder and then embittered. Life was already bad for him once, and he could not influence it. And now we, with our own hands, instead of finally hearing him, are closing his mouth. Then the corners of our lips droop in a grimace of suffering. And we carry this suffering home, to a loved one or to our still happy children. These people love us, but they just can’t understand what’s going on. Why do they “fall into the hot hand” every now and then, why do they so rarely receive real warmth and closeness, why do their consolations have no effect on us. The cold comes into the house... If you try to forget at least for a while about adult arrogance, if you mentally reach out to your inner child and tell him what he really wants to hear - that we love him, accept him, appreciate him, yes anything! - then after some time he will stop hitting us so painfully from the inside. And one day he will even learn to dream again.
