In a recent article, he described what needs a person has, and how to understand others and oneself in this regard. And now I’ve thought about it and will describe it again - what personal growth is, what does it have to do with the levels of consciousness and how it all happens. Let’s start with the main thing - what is personality? According to the philosophy of personalism (from the Latin Persona - personality, in fact) and the humanistic direction in psychology, The main characteristic of a person, his distinguishing factor, is Freedom of Choice. That is - Will, the ability to desire or not to desire. From this position, developing a personality is simply about making choices. Make informed and responsible decisions. Sounds nice and simple. Even too much :) But we also remember that there is a surprisingly laconic and at the same time accurate definition of personality made by B.V. Zeigarnik: Personality - Hierarchy of Motives. Let me remind you: Motive = Subject of Need. Despite the fact that everyone has fundamentally the same needs, the motives can be - and are - different. In addition, one motive can “serve” several needs at once; and also - one need can find different objects. Thus, personality development from the point of view of the “activity approach” is the complication and expansion of this hierarchy of motives. Which on an intuitive level does not raise objections - say, Vasek from the yard, whose only desires in life are to eat, drink, copulate and watch football, is in this sense a less developed personality. What is, say, Arkady Arturovich, a philosophy teacher who is interested in theater and painting of the 16th century.* * *What personality should not be confused with: these are long-standing discussions in psychology. Correlation of such concepts as: - Personality - Character - Individuality - Temperament I will try to offer brief definitions that still give some understanding of the difference. 1) Personality - as already said, this is a hierarchy of motives. That is, these are goals and values, interests and tastes, what is important to you (and not necessarily important to others). This is the “core” around which everything else is built. 2) Character - in modern psychology is understood as the Style of Socialization. That is, some - I'm sorry - characteristic, constant way of acting in relations with the environment. In this regard, most “personality questionnaires” are aimed specifically at character, surprisingly. 3) Individuality is, if you like, a derivative consequence of both personality and character. A unique picture of internal motives, externally expressed through a style of behavior. 4) Temperament is simply a characteristic of the nervous system and psyche in a functional, dynamic sense. Strong-weak, fast-slow, reactive, etc. We can recall the well-known concept of enneatypes. The Enneatype is a Basic Social Motivation that arises as a result of a pathological decision in infancy and childhood. On the one hand, yes, this is a direct indication of personality, since motivation is described. On the other hand, this is a characteristic of social interaction, i.e. character. That is why it can be so difficult to separate one from the other - activity is a consequence of need; and character is derived from personality.* * *I also earlier promised about levels of consciousness according to the model of Dr. David Hawkins. His concept - “kinesiology” - postulates that the unconscious through the body can determine the truth of a particular statement. But this is the complex and irrelevant part right now. Hawkins' more "current" idea is that levels of consciousness exist, and can be "calibrated" into a hierarchy - according to conventional units of "vibration". Hawkins shares the idea that consciousness is vibration, that is, waves, correlated with brain electrical waves. And Hawkins not only “discovered” this - but also described what these levels are, what the indicator of each Attractor is (an attractor is an “emotion” around which the main fluctuations occur), and how this is connected with the development of a person’s consciousness. It looks something like this (in my interpretation). This model already includes levels of existence: 1) Adaptation - roughly.
