Dealing with impostor syndrome can be extremely difficult, but there are several ways to support yourself in such a situation: 1. Remember that you are not alone. Realizing that many people have had or are experiencing similar feelings can help you free yourself from feelings of isolation and shame. Explore the stories of other people who have experienced impostor syndrome and learn how they coped. Chat with your colleagues, perhaps they are haunted by the same feelings. One day, my friend shared with me her dialogue with an older colleague. I remember him very much. - It seems to me that soon everyone will understand that I don’t work well enough, I don’t have enough education. The manager will notice this, they will fire me. - So you consider yourself smarter than everyone else? - What...? - Do you think that our manager and all colleagues are fools? Can't evaluate an employee? Are they “substituting” a bad professional for their clients? And you alone know the truth)2. Notice and take credit for your successes and achievements. Analyze them, realize that they reflect your work and efforts. Celebrate your progress and set realistic, achievable goals. The Competence Ladder exercise can help with this. Pay attention to, celebrate and value your skills and strengths.3. Avoid comparisons. Each person has their own unique path. People often compare themselves with more experienced colleagues and recognize their successes as more valuable. Remind yourself of your individual path, unlike others. For example, create a folder in your phone with your training certificates, positive reviews from clients, colleagues, and add iconic photos. You can print it all out and paste it into a beautiful notebook or make a whole achievement board on the wall in your apartment. Children often have a separate wall where parents place certificates, medals, drawings, and so on. Why not do this for yourself as an adult?) And, of course, to get additional support in working through impostor syndrome, you can contact a psychologist. It's important to remember that overcoming impostor syndrome is a process that takes time and effort. But it can qualitatively change your life🙏
