“Happiness can be found even in dark times, if you remember to turn to the light” (Albus Dumbledore, film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”) Many of us experienced a cataclysm that destroyed the usual way of life. Being on the ruins of previous meanings, I really want to quickly build something new in its place. But I think it's more important to slow down here. Go deeper into experiencing the loss, and this process now becomes more important the longer the situation lasts. Unfortunately, the collapse is not over yet, there is no stability and certainty in our lives: no matter where you look, everything crumbles and falls. It is impossible to gain quality strength until the actual pain is relieved. It is more difficult to understand how to live on if you have not grieved for the one who passed away. The psychologist’s task now is to allow both himself and his client to simply be in the dark. It’s scary, painful and difficult, but it’s necessary. Even just touching the darkness that now fills our inner world is very brave. But at the same time, it is necessary to remember that there is light. What can you do to avoid drowning in darkness? Understand that this happens in life. Unfair, senseless and even more aimless. Accept that all the feelings we are experiencing now are absolutely normal. Give emotions an outlet. This tension within us always harms both mental and somatic health. Stay involved in normal life, maintain everyday life. Ordinary small things best allow us to remain whole and not fall apart. Move. Walk through thawed spring cities, run on the track to good music, train until you sweat. Muscular fatigue will take the place of psychological fatigue, and the endorphin produced will not be superfluous. Strive for warmth. Hot tea, a relaxing bath, a comfortable hoodie - all this will relieve accumulated stress. Find someone with whom you can talk frankly. And tell, tell, tell. Share thoughts, feelings, experiences, everything that hurts inside, and everything that worries you. It’s good if it’s a professional listener - a psychologist, it’s good if it’s a friend. But rest assured that you will not be judged, will not be burdened with advice, and will not be accused of being too sensitive. In the end, we will be able to find new supports, in ourselves and in the outside world, and we will be able to build our lives anew. But for now, let’s remember about the light.
