Loneliness can be very difficult, worsening your mood, affecting your health and ability to enjoy life. Getting into this state, a person, as a rule, concentrates on the negative aspects of life. Feels despair and helplessness. Feelings of loneliness can occur not only among people who have gone through a divorce, who have lost a loved one, or among the elderly. You can also encounter it when frequently communicating with colleagues, friends or family. What to do if you experience this state of alienation and incomprehensibility by others or when no one is around? It is very important to realize that the feeling of loneliness is completely subjective. Some people feel great and joyful when outside of romantic or even friendly relationships and vice versa. Therefore, it is appropriate to talk about establishing a connection with your inner world, with something that does not depend on support, approval or spending time together. After all, in fact, there are many activities that can fill you with pleasant emotions. Watching comedy films, working out, walking in nature - everything that will help release hormones of joy and pleasure. Another valuable realization is that loneliness is such a common phenomenon that no one is alone in it. When you realize that, according to statistics, a little less than half of the people on Earth experience this feeling at some point, it becomes easier. There is some support in this. After all, feeling not quite normal, not like everyone else, is not easy. Attention to your thoughts is also of great importance. When we are lonely, phrases sound inside us that we will forever be without close contacts or that being alone means being a failure or a loser. All these are stereotypes and harmful attitudes. After all, privacy conceals many resources, such as saving time, the safety of personal space, and the ability to do everything at a pace that is comfortable for you. People are not obliged to coincide with some pre-established patterns, and respect for one’s uniqueness can give a feeling of fulfillment and happiness even in situations where there are temporarily no like-minded people or partners nearby.
