This is the name given to the complex of the little daughter of a warrior from Troy who went to war. The girl faithfully waited for her dad, but, unfortunately, he did not return. The girl lived her entire adult life in search of the image of her father in other men. According to the legends of Ancient Greece, Electra lived her entire life idealizing the image of her father, whom she looked for in every man she met. Carl Gustav Jung first proposed the term “Electra Complex” as a female version of the Oedipus Complex. If we rely on the theory of psychoanalysis, we can say that such a complex first appears in girls aged 4-5 years. The complex is expressed in an irresistible attraction to the father, to continuously receive his attention and care. At the same time, at this age this is quite the norm, but the transfer of this experience into adulthood is not considered the norm. How does such transfer manifest itself? There are actually several options. It often manifests itself in the fact that a woman who grew up with an Electra complex cannot build relationships with men. The complex is often expressed in rejection of the mother. Perhaps the most dangerous option: a long, if not eternal, wait for a man who looks like his father. It is important to understand who is at risk for acquiring this complex. First of all, girls whose mothers are already under the influence of this complex. Secondly, the acquisition of this complex is associated with the divorce of parents. Thirdly, girls who look like their fathers are faced with the Electra complex. And both externally and internally. Fourthly, the complex is instilled in girls whose parents actually wanted a son. Fifth, in a family where a strict matriarchy reigns. It is possible to avoid a girl becoming a victim of the Electra complex, just like avoiding many other complexes. It is necessary to create a friendly atmosphere in the family and avoid tug-of-war. If for some reason the father does not live in the family, it is necessary that he regularly meet with his daughter. In other words, a girl should grow up in care and love, then there will be no soil for the formation of complexes.
