What is a mission? In my opinion, this is what expresses the meaning of existence of each individual person in this world. Some people live for the sake of family and the happiness of their loved ones, some for the sake of achieving great financial success, some are interested in developing and learning about the world around them. But there are also those who understand the word mission much more deeply than others. Let’s imagine two people. They are about the same age, both have families and stable incomes. It seems that everything in their life is wonderful and there is no need for anything additional. But one of them disappears at work for hours, because he strives to climb the career ladder in order to have a higher income, things of higher status, and the opportunity to work less himself, too, so that he can hope for an unexpected miracle. But the miracle still doesn’t come, and he’s already starting to have problems in his family due to his constant absence from home. And what about the second hero of our story? And the second one doesn’t work so hard, because he understands that you can’t change all the affairs in the world, he has no one to curry favor with except himself. But he loves his job. Each element of the work process captivates him and reminds him of the meaning that he puts into his activity and how many people his work will help. If the work does not bring any result other than money, a person of the second type will never go to it, and even if he does, he will not will stay there for a long time, because he sees no reason to do something that no one except himself or his boss needs. Which of these two abstract people do you think has a mission, and which has only desires and needs? And who Will a person with or without a mission be happier a month before his own death? Here are a few more questions that can be useful to think about when motivation drops to zero. I always ask myself these questions before making another leap towards my goals: What would I like to do that would benefit other people? What specific things have I done in the last week that have brought any tangible benefit to me or others me to people. Whom have I made or am making happier with my actions and deeds. What will remain after me if I die tomorrow. These questions are very important, do not forget about them. And in conclusion, I will quote the famous phrase of Steve Jobs: “If you live every day as if it were your last, someday you will be right.” Have a good day and be sure to decide on your mission! :)You can subscribe to my articles and notes here
