So, you are the parent of a young athlete. Your child is successful or is just on the path to success in sports, striving step by step to overcome the difficulties of a sports career. The further this path is, the more internal resources need to be spent on lifting. If you begin to notice that the child is bored during training, conflict situations have arisen with the sports environment, the child does not understand why he needs this sport, he is restless, not attentive, he has the desire and desire for the further training process disappears or he is afraid to enter the first competition, and if the stratum is unsuccessful, he decides to quit the sport altogether. In all of the above situations and many others, a sports psychologist can come to the rescue. What can a sports psychologist help with? : understanding the correct, leading motivation in a child; setting clear goals for sports; managing one’s attention and concentration; developing self-control and self-regulation skills; accompanying an athlete in the competitive and post-competitive period; overcoming crisis conditions in sports. Psychological work with a young athlete cannot but include work with his parents. Since, in the majority, parents build the foundation of their child’s personality brick by brick, shaping character, volitional and emotional qualities, instilling a love of physical activity and sports. Therefore, it is extremely important to help in psychological preparation not only for your child, but also for yourself. A child reads information from his environment, and if a parent is not a positive example of sports health and sports hygiene, then you should not expect a miracle from him or from the work of a psychologist. Help from a psychologist in sports belongs to the field of classical psychology. It has been proven that problems in sports often have their roots in childhood, childhood traumas and grievances, in the suppression of the child’s will by parents or other child-parent relationships. I invite parents and young athletes to consultations, where we can analyze in detail the goals, results and psychological mistakes in sports preparation.
