From the author: Publication from my website Sudden, unexpected, paroxysmal fear that chills the whole body, fills the legs with lead, makes the heart beat like a canary, and the breath freeze. We could go on for a long time listing the symptoms that are characteristic of a panic attack. Those who have been familiar with this for a long time no longer need to list it - they already know everything perfectly well, and, perhaps, are even used to it. But when something like this happens for the first time, a person he just can't find a place for himself. After all, this is something completely different from ordinary diseases. On what is “permissible” to be sick in everyday public opinion. This is something transcendental, frightening and somewhere even forbidden to be realized. What does a person usually do after the first attack? He begins to frantically search for an explanation. Reasonable, adequate reasons for what happened. As an option, he begins to undergo a detailed examination - this includes measuring temperature and pressure, and going to all kinds of doctors. From a therapist to a cardiologist with a neurologist. As a result of all this, a person seems to be “running around” with himself. Overly, overly fixated, fixated on this topic. And, although he consciously tries in every possible way to avoid a new panic attack, he unconsciously seems to be waiting for it with bated breath. And the attack does not hesitate to reappear in a person’s life. well, and then everything goes in a vicious circle - fear of waiting for fear, fear, again fear of waiting for fear. It is important to say that there are a number of very specific physical ailments that can be the cause of a panic attack. For example, thyroid dysfunction, sudden jumps in blood sugar levels. So, when a person rushes around to different doctors and undergoes a full range of functional studies, this is even good. This way he is convinced of his complete (relatively speaking, we are all under-examined :-) ) physical health. Well, then - still, you shouldn’t put off visiting a psychotherapist. There are cases when just a few sessions are enough, during which a person understands the causes of his condition, understands that it is not so uncontrollable, learns the skills of proper relaxation in stressful moments, and stops running from his fears. The main thing and the first thing that is important to understand if you experience panic attacks. During the attack, your health will not suffer, you will not lose consciousness, you will not go crazy (and many are afraid to even admit this fear to themselves!), and you will not die. That is, you, of course, will die, but sometime later. Not tomorrow or even the day after tomorrow :-) Realizing this is already half the battle. And the rest will definitely follow if you move towards fear in order to find a way to “domesticate” it, and not hide from it all your life
