In the last article, we conducted a small experiment on the topic of libido, during which we had to choose 2 men and understand how “sharpened” our brain is for reproduction. Read the article “Mini experiment to test your libido” Based on this topic, there is a certain understanding that the degree of expression of libido varies for each person. And if someone often experiences sexual arousal, and sex in a couple for such a person is one of the important components of healthy relationship maintenance, then there are 1% of those who do not have a need for sexual intimacy. Such people are called asexuals. Asexuality is not a disease, but a lack of internal need to have sex. Of course, the factors in the development of asexuality can be very different. This may be due genetically, where a person was born with a low sexual constitution. And over time, certain factors overlapped, and the person, in principle, stopped experiencing sexual arousal and enjoying intimacy. Also, a person can become asexual in the course of their development. But asexuality should not be confused with the consequences of traumatic events. For example, as it was with Vasya. Let's imagine Vasya, who had an average sexual constitution until he was 35 years old. At the age of 35, Vasya met Masha. Masha was very nice to Vasya. Cute to the point of trembling in the body and tremors in the upper and lower extremities. And when it came to sexual intimacy with Masha, Vasya still experienced deep anxiety, which subsequently reflected on his body. There was no erection during sexual contact with Masha, which provoked the emergence of psychological trauma in the form of avoidance of sexual contact, but not asexuality as such. Because asexuality is about an internal reluctance to have sex, but in no way about resistance or avoidance. Moreover, anxiety when contacting a person with whom we feel sympathy is a completely normal phenomenon. Perhaps, if Vasya had been informed about this fairly common phenomenon and his condition, this would not have provoked the occurrence of psychological trauma or even retraumatization. This example clearly shows how a person can make a decision for himself in the form of avoidant behavior in sexual intimacy due to some traumatic situations for the psyche. This happens because a person would not like to not face the pain that he faced in the past. Of course, these processes occur unconsciously and can be corrected if the problem is recognized. One of the points of view about asexuality is that a person who considers himself asexual is either impotent, or if it is a girl, she is frigid. Of course, if you look at it from this angle, then maybe it is so. But if asexuality is the absence of sexual desire, then it does not = the absence of intimacy. That is, an asexual person may well have sex to maintain a relationship as a couple, out of a sense of duty, or for reproduction, in the end. However, sexual minorities, including asexuals, are increasingly becoming social “outcasts”. After all, often what is difficult to explain refers to pathology. In the next article I would like to consider asexuality from the point of view of their “deviation” in society. We will also consider communities and associations of asexual people, of course, with your response. If you were interested, please mark "Thank you". This is important for me :) See you soon!
