From the author: published on the website “Work-work, switch to Fedot, from Fedot to Yakov, from Yakov to everyone.” How often does this sentence come to your mind? If she regularly comes to visit you, then it is obvious that work for you is only a way of making money. But you have the power to change this, and we will tell you how to love your job.Top 7 reasons why we don’t love our job Of course, there are situations when, in general, there is nothing to love about it. There can be a lot of reasons why this happens. If you want to change your attitude towards your career, then it’s definitely worth understanding what’s stopping you from doing so. Therefore, you should familiarize yourself with our list and figure out what specifically applies to you.1 Low income If you survey our fellow citizens about why they don’t like their job, this reason will come out in first place. Which is not surprising, because earnings are the main thing that distinguishes work from even the most interesting hobby. Unfortunately, there is almost always not enough money, and even a top manager who receives a six-figure sum for his work will tell you this. The basis of such dissatisfaction is the discrepancy experienced by a person between his own efforts, salary and income of other similar specialists. And in this case, it’s worth thinking about: does your job give you something else besides money, or do you urgently need to focus yourself on increasing your earnings?2 Lack of free time It just so happens that if the money that you are paid turns out to be enough, then you you begin to feel an acute lack of time to spend them. In the modern world, it has become the norm to work twelve hours a day, but this does not suit everyone. There are plenty of employment options with way less income but much more freedom, and they are worth considering if this story is about you.3 The Tyrannical Boss Very often, bosses turn out to be very specific people. Intractability, extreme demands, rigidity and the ability to go over their heads - these qualities often help their bearers to take a “place in the sun”, from which they begin to bully their subordinates. In this case, it is important to understand that the boss’s demands are often justified and benefit the business. If you are very much offended by your boss’s communication style, then perhaps you should think about problems with self-esteem and learn to find a common language with “problem” people. In the end, every person can be useful to you in some way, even a tyrant boss.4 Bad team “Serpentarium” - this is the characteristic you can hear from girls who are asked to talk about their work team. This is especially true for departments where only women work. This is not surprising, because we are very prone to rivalry with each other and “palace intrigues.” Do you agree that a rather bleak picture emerges? But even in this situation you can find its advantages: you would rather go home after a long day of work, and communication with colleagues will never replace communication with family or friends. Or you can treat it like a game - of course, if everything is not so bad that you just want to escape from there.5 Lack of prospects for career growth Surely each of you wants to grow and increase your own status over time. And this can be a problem if your job doesn't offer much advancement. Or your boss is very worried about his own position and is trying with all his might to keep you in lower positions. It can be difficult to get around this obstacle at a particular job, and then it’s worth thinking about ways to realize your own ambitions and even change your workplace.6 Constant stress Irritated clients, a demanding boss, tough colleagues, constant time pressure and rush jobs - all of this just makes your head spin! Sometimes you just want to crawl into a deep hole and not come out until next year. Stop! It is quite possible that the problem is not so muchwork, as much as you have. This may be an inability to plan your time, communicate with other people, or a painful reaction to criticism - in any case, it is worth analyzing in detail the origins of such experiences. Maybe you just need to learn to relax or disconnect from work problems for a while. And, of course, it’s worth remembering that no job is worth graying hair and professional burnout from constant stress.7 Boredom Does your job make you bored? You are not alone, because many workers feel alienated from their work: it seems meaningless, useless and boring to them. It is possible that the fact is that this is simply not your line of work. For example, you are an active, energetic and sociable person who finds yourself in the position of an accountant, and monotonous work with numbers sucks all the juice out of you. And it also happens that you just need to realize who and how your work is useful, and this completely changes everything. How to love your job So, you have clarified the whole complex of reasons that prevent you from going to work every morning as if it were a holiday. But don’t rush to change your life and write a letter of resignation. You probably really want to know how to love your job and start enjoying it from tomorrow. To start, you can imagine your ideal job in detail: what you do, who you work with, where your workplace is, etc. ... After some time, try to evaluate the resulting picture with a sober look. It will be great if you discuss work with friends and acquaintances - they will probably be able to tell you something out of the ordinary about the schedule, the boss, and colleagues. Most likely, you are not the only one who has problems, and this mysteriously makes it easier. In addition, you have the opportunity to evaluate how realistic your ideal is and whether it is possible to achieve it. It is very important to understand the significance of your contribution to the common cause. It is no coincidence that some people even volunteer: this activity is not paid in any way, it takes a lot of effort and time, but they are very clear about who and what benefits they bring with their work. Think about what you personally do for your colleagues, boss and company - after all, no one is just paid money. This means that you are a valuable employee - it’s time to start realizing this. In some cases, going on a business trip can be very effective. Yes, yes, don’t be surprised, because by changing the environment and seeing “how it happens for them,” you gain new experience, which perhaps you just lacked. Maybe you can learn from your “distant” colleagues a way of organizing work or a new system of staff motivation, and this is what will help you love your job. The worst thing you can do is take the position of a victim. “Oh, no one understands me, and everyone is only thinking about how to offend me!” – if this thought is stuck in your head, then it’s time for you to change your attitude towards your own life. Start taking initiative and taking responsibility for what happens to you. Be active, think about solving professional problems, offer ideas, because it usually happens that career failures are associated with your own personal characteristics. And your active position will no longer allow other people to treat you like a dumb worker bee! A competitive moment can help bring interest to work. Agree, it’s one thing to create something in splendid isolation, and quite another thing to create something in competition with other workers. It is absolutely not necessary to tell anyone about a small competition - just let you know about it. But it is precisely this that can make work a little like play, and when the child inside us wakes up, boredom and melancholy go away on their own. If you don’t have any friendly connections at work, then it’s time to make them. It is always easier to face the hardships of work with someone else than alone. Is there at least one person in the team who evokes a glimmer of sympathy in you?!
