Today, during the days of quarantine, I would like to talk about something vital and so relevant during the epidemic - fear. Currently, not only the coronavirus has spread throughout the world, but also the virus of fear, general anxiety and panic caused by uncertainty and fueled by the media. Many people are now in a state of fear and anxiety. These conditions are absolutely normal in conditions of threat to human life and health. It is very important to be able to track these states in yourself, recognize your emotions and feelings and learn to manage them. Few people know that our negative emotions can have a direct impact on our physical health, since they arise not only at the mental level, but also at the physical level. , physiological level. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish between them and monitor your bodily sensations during an emotional experience. Think about it, do you notice your bodily sensations during times of fear and anxiety, what do you feel at this moment? Fear and anxiety can be reflected in the body in the form of increased heart rate and breathing, and may be accompanied by trembling and muscle tension. All this indicates the launch of our autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system provides control and correction of the activity of internal organs. This process is carried out autonomously - without the participation of our consciousness. This allows us to react with lightning speed to changes in the external environment and to threats from outside. At a moment of fear, our adrenal glands produce stress hormones: adrenaline, norepinephrine and cortisol. Adrenaline and norepinephrine are released into the blood during severe fear and activate the body's hidden resources to eliminate the impending threat. Cortisol is a kind of anti-shock, anti-stress and analgesic drug. If a person often suppresses negative emotions, does not know how to cope with them, or constantly stimulates their appearance (by consuming negative information, communicating with toxic people), a systematic release of the above hormones occurs, protective blood cells are sent to protect the psyche at times of stress, which leads to to negative consequences in the body, to decreased immunity, malfunction of internal organs, the occurrence of anxiety and neurotic disorders, and psychosomatic diseases. This is why it is so important to be able to manage your emotions and react correctly to stress, avoid harmful communication and negative information. And in conclusion, I would like to give you some recommendations for working with your emotional state during quarantine and beyond.1. Reduce to a minimum, or better yet completely eliminate, viewing and reading news, since the media use neuro-linguistic programming techniques (attractive, colorful words, speech patterns, special intonation accents) to lure people. This affects our consciousness, and therefore our emotional and physical state. In psychology, there is such a thing as adrenaline addiction, which can manifest itself not only in a craving for extreme activities, but also in dependence on negative news. 2. Consciously approach the study of any information, develop critical thinking. Read verified information from official sources. It is useful to know what the World Health Organization says, it is useful to know about risk groups. Getting to know this information helps you build your own strategy and philosophy in relation to the situation. And this is very important in the fight against anxiety - to have an action plan, to understand how you can protect these risk groups if you have them in your family. 3. Since most people now have a lot of free time, it is better to occupy yourself with useful activities, creativity, and pleasant communication. Read books, watch calm or humorous films, listen to pleasant, calm music, draw, do handicrafts, exercise, ensure healthy sleep, communicate with loved ones and friends via video conference. All of the above contributes!
